I was going to say I might be able to get somewhere to meet up with someone outside of York, though looking at that early in the morning I doubt I'll get a bus or train anywhere.

Has it been decided that its the 14th to 15th as personally the 15th to 16th appeals more as it doesn't require a day off work?

I cant do the 15th/16th, busy, so im going on the 14th/15th
At the end of the day the fishery is open whenever, and as we cant book the lake, then I guess its more of a "going here anyone fancy it?"
Just trying to get a date up where there is something different to a match, just a friendly fishin' with beer.
Theres nothing to stop anyone coming down on the 15th/16th, just on your transport, July is a fair way off, who knows what will happen.

If thats the date then thats the date. Sorry, I was just thinking about my alarming low number of days off I have left. I'm more than happy to use one for what should hopefully be great day out. Just thought I'd check.
Maybe with it being a Friday day it may be less busy as welll.

Funny you say that, as I did think when looking at the pictures and seeing that your both from Rotherham that you looked almost identical. ;D Had I not seen you both the other weekend I may have thought you were infact the same person.

I live in Acomb, which is on the outskirts (2 mins from ringroad) on the west side of York.
I can try asking my missus if she'll get up early and take me to Selby, but think I've got a better chance of Cindy Crawford knocking on my door this evening and jumping me.

She's not much for roughing it. Plus cause she's an assistant manager in a shop she usually works one day of the weekend. Still I'll run it by her. She's really not a morning person though , as I've discovered numerous times when trying to be funny when waking her up.

Had a trip down on Saturday intended to spend the night with my lad, but we bottled it at 8:30pm The day didnt go to plan at all, I forgot to get some maggots, I forgot milk, I forgot my gas bottle and left the sausage in the freezer. I managed to blank again, we fished corn on one rod and boilie on the other, I gave this quite a while, and after a few knocks and blips but no run, I decided to try the feeder, perhaps something smaller was having a play, this failed too. Dom went off to do the "have you had owt mister" with the other anglers, he came back with bad news, no one had a fish all day. I guess the sudden drop from the glorious days before killed it. The mist and the rain came in and we looked at each other and knew it was time to go home. A lot of work has taken place over the winter, I didnt see a s of litter, the toilet block is now fully working, the new bailif seems to be well up for running decent fishery. Just a note, bait boats for the time being are banned at the weekend, this is due to some anglers coming to blows over swims on pit 5 and 6. Si

Sorry you didn't get that double you're after mate. Still,it will be all the sweeter when it does arrive on a warm summers evening. I think you did the right thing coming home early. If no one is catching inc yourself after trying a variation of methods, it's sometimes best to retreat to fight another day. Where did you fish from ? the double peg on Pit 4 ? Gaz

it was taken mate, but I was on that same bank but 2 pegs along, the pit slowly cleared as the day wore on, the guy in the peg between me and peg 1, had a few bream to 8lb and lost a 20lb+ carp at the net, but from 3.00am to 3.00pm he had nothing, so he packed up and went to fish a lake a lake at Cromwell. Come 6pm, I could have picked any peg I wanted.
confusing and frustrating at times these pits, you know the fish are there in ridiculas numbers, but they can be so sensitive at times.
Ive started to use one of the polaris find its own depth floats (which I use for piking), it seems a good way to find the bottom of a the shelf, and I moved both rods to the edge during the morning and thats when the bips and bumps started on the alarms, perhaps my terminal was just wrong, who knows.
