Please ignore the above everyone, was concerned enough to phone Steve directly for a chat about it and I'm now reassured the lower pond isn't going to become suddenly noisy and significantly deeper instantaneously.

Thanks for your phone call and message of concern, what I am checking for is spent munitions, I'd say Brass but that would only attract metal merchants. Without saying too much my military background stands me in good stead, just in-case. The most likely cause of any loud noise will be someone's pole been shattered by a lump of a fish. I am also looking for 2 engagement rings, 1 gold watch, 1 wedding ring and a set of teeth (No way are they wanting them back after all this time!!!)
Does anyone know how long it takes for your venue to appear on the Venues list? I am sure I submitted it just before the dinosuars went extinct.

May I offer my congratulations to Ian Harris for not only hooking, but landing a 27lb 3oz Carp today at MillHouse Ponds. Photos of said beast are on www.learn2fish.ltd.uk (the fish I mean, not Ian) he also landed a 4lb 2oz Tench last Friday so having a good old time of it. Nice work and with all those spectators around, good timing. ShyTallKnight

Oh dear, must say when I saw this I thought no chance of a 27 coming from there but now iv seen it at least I know I was right!!
Wouldn't say it would even be half of 27! Someone needs some new scales methinks and the fact that this is a learn to fish venue it doesn't look particularly good putting that pic up and claiming its a 27lb carp, thinks some one needs to learntoweigh.com

It might have very dense bones. Is that def the one that's being claimed as a 27?

Yup the decimal point must have been in the wrong place, maybe it was supposed to say 2.75lb not 27.5???

I am going to get him to bring the scales he used in, there were several people who helped him to weigh it, i will see what a bag of sugar weighs and let you know, in the fishes favor, he did sent a photo of the fish in the net it was fat and I mean fat.
Keep your eyes peeled for an update.

this man must be at least 14 feet in hight and hands like shovels to bury a 27lb carp in his mitts heres a 12lb 6oz carp spooner is a tall 6ft ish lad and not skinny his hands are not small his elbows are on his knees giving support the supossed 27lb fish is being held with out streached arms even if the fish had a freakish girth it would struggle to hit 12lb from what i can see here is an example i am 6ft 4" and in excess of 24st this fish had a freakish girth to it built like a tank and came in at just over 12lb i think it would if that bloke holding the fish is anything like me then that fish is no bigger than 12lb if it was reeeaaaaaallllly thick girthed ether way fish on the bank which is more than i am doing at the moment

That's definitely put it into context Bob. I know photos are deceptive sometimes, but I'd say both those fish are a third bigger than the "27lber".

Going off your pics liptugger the top one in your post 12lb odd look at your mates hands in relation to the fish then look at the 27 lber
More like 7 lb
Do yourself a favour mate take it off the website not very professional trying to pass a tiddler off as a 27lb lake record

**************** UPDATE ON THE LARGE CARP AS PROMISED *************** This has now been confirmed after the scales used were checked, officiating were an ex-tackle shop owner and a member of the National fishing league, the official weight of this fish is....Drum roll please>>>> is >>>> 13lb 1oz. Photo back up on www.learn2fish.ltd.uk This weight makes much more sense, I am sure the Carp police will still have some droughts, but I suggest you come and catch it. Well done Ian, very nice fish. ShyTallKnight carp police ? whats that ment to mean it was pointed out that the fish was no were near 27lb you have then gone and had a rethink and come back with 13lb 1oz how are we carp police at pointing out what is a massive error now you say a nameless ex tackle shop owner and a nameless member of the national fishing league have checked the scales against a nameless test. and arrive at less than ½ the original weight. Your making out your being hounded for a slight error when in essence it was a massive 14lb over error no scales make that sort of error unless there knackered so checking them and it seems having a best guess. at the end of the day Ian caught a fish and left as it was you would have said it was your lake record at 27lb which is a bit of a misgiving. we have questioned it you have listend now you refer to us as carp police...bit of a snub really mate

This guy has given up his own time and significant finances for this fishery, to promote angling and conservation education to all back grounds, such as kids and those with learning difficulties in the future. I have been to the site and spoken to him face to face about his plans and he's a decent genuine guy wanting to make a difference, not an idiot. The stuff i've read on this thread irrespective of whether said Carp is 7lb or 107lb is absolutely shameful

I dont give a monkeys about his motive for the fishery what i give a monkeys about is claiming a 27lb record for his lake when it was'nt

Yes this place is to promote fishing and for young ens etc, which makes the whole thing even worse! And if this guy is teaching angling and obviously into the sport etc then he shud clearly know that carp is no where near 27lb. The whole thing is pretty embarrassing given the circumstances !
