;D There is a green hill far away without a city wall. This place is called Fourways Fishery at Gunthorpe near Owston Ferry in North Lincolnshire, but only just a few miles and it could have been in glorious Yorkshire but then again a few miles the other way and they could have been in Nottingham. So the 21/2 acre lake with 31 car accessable pegs finds its self tucked away in a really peaceful spot just off the A161 and run by John the very very affable owner of the site and his Bailiff Dave another very nice man. Juggla and i were made very welcome by John and his wife and as George will show had some nice Fish out of this oh so peaceful place we will be back mostly because it is so nice but also because i need to get my own back on the two that got away ;D. £5.00 a day with a quid off for concessions £3.00 after 5pm during summer fishing dawn till dusk the usual restrictions apply plus no cat or dog meat ground bait in feeders and cups only. you can use keep nets but only for silver fish. this pond is just the begining there are plans afoot this will certainly be a place to watch if you are a member of www.yorkshirefishing.net in the east of the region. to find out more contact them on 01427 753253 or 07812 721182 14 year olds and under must be supervised

Hello All Spent the day over in North Lincolnshire with Malc and we payed a visit to Fourways Fishery on the outer fringes of Gunthorpe village near Owston Ferry Now if you hanker for a place to fish that is very well stocked with the full range of coarse fish and a place that is set in very peaceful surroundings then this could be the place for you With one lake up and running and another under construction and with a third to follow you lads in the East of the region are about to be spoilt rotten ;D ;D I believe the venue will be pleasure fishing only and if the other two lakes are as well thought out and landscaped as the one we fished then WOW I had the great pleasure of slipping the landing net under what i believe is the mad ones personal BEST Tench, we had no scales(but when they are big....they are big) and at a guesstimate i would put it around the 6lb+ mark, a cracking fish WELL DONE MATE. Here are a few photos Malc and his Tench Me and Friends All in all a very nice day ;D ;D ;D

;D As George says it really is a very peacful and they have nature pouring out of every available niche with spoonbills, short and long eared owls, cookoo,s and plenty of other things to keep you interested in your surroundings. and not only are all 31 pegs accessable to cars they also have a [glow=blue,2,300][/glow]CLEAN LOO . Teas coffee's and soft drinks are available from the cabin and i think this will develop as the fishery develops. so get along to this lovely venue get in at the begining and watch this place flourish.. regards malc.mad MooMoo2

;D Thanks Jay it really was a stonker of a Tench and Juggla's fish were pristine fat fella's. whilst we were there a lad came round for a chat , well i just Rang John to say again how much we had enjoyed it and i was told the same lad was in my swim i had yesterday fishing over the ground-bait i put in lol and bagging up on fish lol just goes to prove the positive effect of pre baiting titter. He has pulled out 6 carp up to 9lb loads of pristine roach of around 10 oz and a couple of tench both around 4lb. The place is fishing it's head off evidentally lol and i wish i was there. As i said yesterday get in early before the fish get too wary of he baits being used they are really fit and fight like stink great fun.

hello again. Thought the diary article was excellent. The other question as to whether there has been an increase in anglers is i'm sorry to say no.I don't really know what to put it down to. I think the weather has had a lot to do with it. Since we opened we've had cold winds and a LOT of rain.On the few warm days we've had the anglers have increased in numbers. Nearly all anglers have made return visits and spoken well of the venue.Good catches are being taken, with tench to 6lb 8oz, carp to12lb,golden tench to 5lb 2oz, bream to 5lb3oz and roach to 2lb 2oz.I guess it's a case of being patient and waiting for word of mouth to spread the news.As the song goes "Things can only get better".Bye for now. nice to hear from you

;D popped over to see John and show off this water to Bigsi , the little Dominator and Carpy, to help me with this Juggla George came too.
it was rather different this time we drove over in glorious sunshine arrived and the clouds came in on a huge sky and with it the showers.it was nice to see John again he is such an amiable chap always ready for a bita banter and a natter a really genuine chap. The wind was whipping down the pond and it felt more like October than late May, and with the recent rain the water temperature had dropped and this had put the carp and bream off thier feed.but thankfully not the roach and not the Tench either. We that is Daz (Carpy) and i set up on the shallow side with the wind coming in over our right shoulders Carpy on his carp gear me with my all purpose feeder rig. Juggla went over to the inlet side with the wind behind him and fished pole and a little while after Bigsi and The Mini Dominator arrived and set up next to George and used a varied approach of rod and pole.
George and i managed to catch plenty of roach and Bigsi and Dom had a couple of roach and Skimmers, carpy got nought. The Strange lad though said there wasn't enough wind we just needed a touch more wind, he did have a very large holdall and the rest of us think he either had a power kite or he was going to be really clever and pull out a sail board and wind surf accross the lake. Daz and i saw a few good fish but none wanted his peperami and i wasn't sure i wanted the huge fish i saw but hey nothing ventured nothing gained and i kept casting to the same reed bed in the carpark corner and eventually a new p.b tench came my way at 5lb 3oz i think Bigsi has a picture of it somewhere but for some reason nudge nudge wink wink Si wasn't that with it lol.nuff said.
OH another thing Jay you know you thought Bigsi and i were the same bloke GUESS WHAT John thought he was my Brother titter for some reason this didn't impress our Simon for some reason titter. Anyway back to the fishery it really is so peaceful there are not many places you can sit nowadays that when you listen you can actually say i cannot hear a single engine not from a car a plane not even a tractor but at fourways at times all you could hear were birds sky larks or yellow hammers and lapwings mobbing a female kestrel. The trees John has planted are growing well and with luck will soon be giving cover from the wind, but in the mean time get down here in the sunshine and have a go at the hard fighting fit fish of fourways of gunthorpe north Lincolnshire near owston ferry. best regards Malc MooMoo2. ;D

Theres a very real chance of this place turning into a cracking venue, a few years on its back and it will be very pretty indeed. I like the way the owner has took his time, to leave the place for 2 years and bring the fish on himself, is a good way of doing things in my book, unlike some where they dig a whole pack it full of half damaged F1's just to break a match record (yup thats a dig a lindholme) So keep it up, however, I cant forgive you for mistaking Me and Mal for brothers, I mean come on, im gorgeous and hes just not, LOL ;D Didnt set the angling world a light yesterday, few skimmers and what not, but to be fair I wasnt with it, but will be back. Heres Mals rather nice Tench, well done on the PB mate

Fourway's Fishery!!! I would like to say a big thankyou to John the owner for making us feel welcome,MooMoo2,BigSi and juggla02 for their warm welcome and especially MooMoo2 for the lift to the fishery.....cheers Malc! MooMoo2 had a good day with roach and a very good Tench which you can see above! The other lads caught but unfortunately i blanked even though MooMoo2 lent me one of his feeder rods and other bit's and still nowt Went back on the Carp gear and had few bites but unfortunately nothing worth hitting......it seems the Carp didn't want to play and this could have been down to the conditions as it was cold, wet and very windy. ( or the fact i'm a angler ) LOL The fishery is a little open to the elements at the moment but once the trees grow and give some shelter the place will be lovely! I'm sure as the weather get's better the Carp will show more and i'll find myself back on the bankside trying to wangle one out! If you find yourself wondering where to go for a day's fishing then you couldn't do worse than trying the friendly and peaceful surroundings of fourways!!! Many thanks again to MooMoo2 Carpy Noticed you didn't mention falling asleep ect. Malc LOL ;D ;D

;D Sorry Bof it is not allowed a venue page , unless we go up against Lincolnshire and annexe Gunthorpe from them lol or we could make the fishery an honorary East Yorkshire fishery titter. i'm not sure John would like to become a Yorkshire man, but next time our member Fourways is online you could always ask him titter. best regards MooMoo2.

Fish back on feed. catching mirrors to 8lb, commons to 9lb, tench to 7lb 4 oz and plenty of roach and rudd. Fish still breaking lines and dont leave rods and poles in water unattended as one angler had to swim 100 metres to retrieve his. He got the pole, lost the fish but did the qualifying time for next swimming championships.bye for now. regards John at fourways.

We visited this fishery yesterday 27/08/06 and it looks nice and peaceful, if somewhat exposed to the wind. I was blowing a gale, and the water looked more like the sea than an inland fishery. If you are planning a visit I would suggest a phone call to find out if it is windy! We gave it a miss in the morning and returned late afternoon and the wind had dropped a little, still very hard to see any bites in the very choppy water, but don't let this put you off. We used sweetcorn and breadflake. Nice friendly people, this fish however are not so keen to vist you on the bank, and fight like hell. I managed to land 4 fish. A 3lb Bream in really nice condition. A 3 1/2 lb Common Carp. A 4lb Common Carp. A 5lb Common Carp. My best fish that I landed, you need good strong tackle. And Paula only had 1 fish, but got smashed 3 times. A nice 4lb Tench. We will return when the winds have dropped. John said hello to all that had visited before. Andrew

Well done the mcsheffields ;D ;D Looks like you had an interesting afternoon out Gunthorpe way ;D Your right about the way it catches the breeze Andrew but when the trees get up a bit more they should offer a little more protection and yes those fish fight like tigers ;D ;D ;D Hmm..18 days off soon.... ;D ;D Well done ;D ;D
