Directions on the map below you can see a street called Church Lane, you will know if its the right one as surprise there is a church on it! As soon as you drive over the railway line (marked on the map) dip the clutch put the car in first gear turn the wheel hard right and stick the Handbrake on, count to 1.5 seconds release it and release the clutch then power slide immediately on to the fishery. Multimap LinkHope that helps Si

Pecker and Andy are giving the lads a six hour start so as to even things up fishwise at the end of the session . Us not wanting to give Si and the lads an inferiority complex , will probably see us leaving early the next day as well ! Gary P.S. Metcheck for Saturday night makes grim reading lads . The word "torrential" appears a bit too often for my liking .

To save face and possible embarrassment, I will be going purely for the camping experience and will be spending most of the time instructing my boy in an observer capacity!

Ozzi, Is it an 8 berth.... My wife can't believe I am still going. Her two reasons are 1) I am a complete idiot 2) I am having an affair so lets hope we catch, I need the proof. Thought I would test the 'mock-up' shelter in the rain last night. Looks like I am bringing an indoor pool so dont forget your trunks lads... If now't else, it will be fun trying.. ;D

I HAVE to go! My life would not be worth living if I backed out now. My son has been nagging me all year to go on an overnighter. So, we're in for a bit of rain! It can't be too bad, can it? Can it? This country didn't become great because we were scared of a bit of rain did it? Did Winston Churchill say "We will fight them on the beaches, we will fight them on the landing grounds but only if it's not raining!" Did Richard the Lionheart set off on the crusades as an excuse to get a bit of sun and avoid the rain? During the Battle of Trafalger, was Nelson taken below decks because he wanted to dry off? Not at all, we are made of strong stuff. Our character shows through in times of adversity, we endure, we know no fear, we make the best of a bad job for we are British. Stirring stuff eh! Makes you justifiably proud. It just seems a shame that with all our proud past victories and achievements something as simple as a cricket match can be abandoned because it's raining! ;D

Bluey, Completely relied on Si and Moo last time (thanks fellas ) But with the 'light' rain it maybe a bit more difficult. I have plenty of grub this time, sausages, burgers, kebab skewers, rolls etc and a couple of BBQ's to cook them which probably aint no good with the rain. It could take a long time holding a lighter under em inside a bivvy....

Thought there was a bit of a queue when I filled up late this afternoon. All packed and ready to go, I've got a garage full!!! I think Lee assumes we are going for a week. We've got more sandwiches than Greggs, the missus doesn't want us to go hungry. She's just seen all the gear in the garage and despaired! "By the time you've set it all up it'll be time to come home." Getting giddy now, our Lee's completely hyper! Can't wait for tomorrow. I think I'll go and fill the wifes car up while it's quiet now.

Well best laid plans and all that, true to form it peeeed it down virtual constantly, went through enough clothes to upset the misses which is always good, one little perch for dom and nada for me, The place is showing signs of a hard fished summer now, a few dead bream at nearly specimen size is not good to see the bailiff is addressing this by seperating the carp, thinks its over stock/bullying rather than bad angling (not sure myself) hes trying to make pit 4 bream only(ish) not sure if it was the weather adding to the general untidyness or not but it would seem some anglers have caught, cant be #rsed itus when it comes to litter, it wasnt a complete dump but it was certainly different from a few weeks ago, The baliff has also banned keepnets, But enjoyed time with me lad and the chats with YF members so not all bad Si

Well, it rained, and it rained, and it rained. It stopped for a short while, then it rained! Like Si, I caught nowt! After a bit of analysis whilst packing the gear away in the car I decided we picked a bad few pegs. Gotta say, walking round studying the place was one of the last things on my mind what with all the rain that was tipping down on our arrival. We fished a bank with the wind on our backs which I assume had driven the fish to the opposite bank. I was informed that fish were being caught opposite. Nevertheless, it was good to FINALLY properly field test the bivvy, bedchair etc even if it was raining for 24 hours solid. Nothing caught (but then again I was merely there for the camping experience!!!) ;D Enjoyed the company (Si, son of Si (Dom) Nafangler plus a fleeting visit from Andy and Pecker who chose the better swims on the opposite side from us) Lee enjoyed himself, glad he had a mate to knock about with (Dom) as the fishing wasn't exactly hectic! Thanks for the company guys, really enjoyed it. Clothing now rotating rapidly in the washing machine, waterproofs hanging up to dry in the garage (a bit minging)

Unfortunately, it was the A1 ‘pits’ this weekend given the constant rain and severe lack of fish. A rough entry in the diary (if I had one) would be as follows: - Friday 9th September:8:00pm - Final check on kit (for 100th time) 8:15pm - Leave post on web site re, my excitement 8:45pm - Read BigSi’s post re: struggle to get petrol , sudden panic that I haven’t got enough to get back after fishing, rush out to fill-up, panic over… 10:30pm – Off to bed to try and sleep ZZZZZzzzzzzz Saturday 10th September:9:00am - load car and set off to meet at venues 11:00am – eventually arrive at venue after a terrible journey stuck in traffic around Doncaster – No apparent reason (As usual) 11:30am – Find Bluey and Si, quick intro and hello’s back off to fetch car. 11:35am – Car gets completely stuck in mud, cant go forward or backward Grrrrrr. 12:00pm – Eventually get car out of mud and onto grass after some clever work with branches . Decided to fish in nearest peg to car . 1:00pm - Eventually set up camp and get some rods in water . 1:30pm – No action yet, so its off to see the boys again for a proper chat. For those who havent met them yet, both great lads. 2:30pm – Back fishing, Baliff turns up for money, offers to tow me away in the morning if i cant get out . 8:00pm – Still no action although there’s a big bream swimming round in circles on top of my bait, diving down and popping up somewhere else . Time for tea and it’s off to BigSi Café ;D. Few beers, BBQ sausages, kebabs and burgers with some of Si’s, freshly made chicken curry. Mmmmmmmmm 10:00pm – Back off fishing, set up bite alarm, which starts playing up and volume control button falls off . AAArrrggghhhh 10:30pm – Eventually, rods set up, starlight’s in place, and sitting comfortably . 12:00am – Still no interest decide on a couple of hours kip. Off to bed (well bin bag covered bed chair mattress) ZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz grunt grunt zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz 4:00am – Quick peep out of the shelter. Not much happening, back to kip. ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz 5:00am – Get up to make a brew, gas burner takes half an hour to ‘warm’ some water Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr A check on the bait see both in place and untouched, add a bit more to the swim and back out they go. 7:00am – Decide to pack up and go home. Halfway through packing up when Pecker and Andy come round the corner (both fished the 'easier' opposite bank - nice to meet you guys, albeit briefly). Seem to have had a bit more luck than us with Pecker having a couple. Round the corner to says goodbye's, 7:15am – The big test, would I get the car past the mud – a few wheel spins later and were away, easy… ;D 8:30am – Great clear drive home, crept indoor, made a brew and woke everyone up when I flushed the loo (oops sorry) . So the trip was over, no fish, no runs and not even any liners to tell the wife and kids about . Will you be going again ask the wife? “Yeah too right” I said…………. But not until next summer ;D ;D ;D ;D
