I actually thought it was just a dream i was having, it woke me up. I live near the railway line, and when the freight train passes through the whole house shakes along with a deep rumbling sound of the train. The earthquake created a similar situation, so much so that i checked the time to see if i had overslept, as the freight train passes at 6.00am just as I'm setting off to work.

Hi, yup woke me here in Dewsbury, not been in bed that long and just gone to sleep, then a very strange noise/rumble, sat up, listened...err all quiet now, head back down and off to sleep. never crossed my mind as to what it was, until I heard the new this morning . Mt sister who lives in Oakland, California, will probable say, we get them all the time, they don't even wake us up at that smaller strength 5.3, lol

At 12.57 our house, which is full of women suddenly had another big girl, ME. The whole house was shaking and the wardrobe doors flew open. But being the man of the house i was dispatched to sort it out, exactly what i was sorting out god knows but peace was only restored after i gave them a full run down that, A, the house was OK, No burglers, vehicles, planes or meteors had come crashing in to our little bit of heaven. Oh yes no aliens had landed neither andf the flashing lights were just from car alarms.

Pretty much same as me. I was woke up by something, just assuming it was a heavy freight train going by. I soon realised after lying there for a minute that the noise and movement of the whole house was not right. I then thought I must have been dreaming and something had woke me up. Got up and had a wander round to make sure no one was trying to break in and then noticed table lamps had moved and the pictures were hanging off centre on the walls. Got up this morning and stuck on the news and right enough, Earthquake. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come as it wasn't an enjoyable experience.

My dog was stressed all last night would not settle and constantley wanting to go out side. Strange how animals seem to have a 6th sense when these things happen.

my whole family felt it quite considerably. i thought i was dreaming it until my dad came back upstairs after going down and said, did you * feel that lolo ( sorry for the language, just shows how shocked people where, my dad rarely swears in my presence). it then dawned that it was an actual earthquake, i just went back to bed, woke up and turned the news on to see if it really wasnt a dream lol

Typical...I spend most nights trying to get to sleep and the night something happens I have to be woken up by the wife to tell me there has just been an Earthquake. Can I have a re-run I feel cheated. Once awake that was it for the rest of the night. I just can't win. What amazes me are the number of posts on the site registered at 1:05 and on. Half the site was up but what posesses people to switch the computer on and start posting? What's it got to do with fishing unless a great trench suddenly appeared in the North Sea and all the county's rivers ran dry.
When I was told of the shaking I put it down to the site kicking off again so in that case it could be left until morning ;D
