wouldnt worry about the Mackeral Bav, dont think they are here yet! Went off Hartlepool about 2 weeks ago, we were only a mile out on smooth ground to start with, which was a bit slow only 1 of us was catching, he had a couple of whity's and cod. Second half of the day we went over rough ground and the fishing dramaticly improved, we all caught mainly cod up to about 4 1/2lb. just using rag topped with squid as bait! Dont mind a bit of feathering for the mackeral in the summer, to use as bait tho on the wrecks! ;D in my experiance its best to phone the skipper your going out with close to the time your going, and he will tell you whats doing and what your likley to be going for! Ive been out on the Bachanalien from hartlepool plenty of times and the skipper Dereck is a sound bloke never failed to catch when out with him even when other charterboats have failed to catch
