I'm from Chesterfield originally (family still there) and would be amazed if you can fish the Park Lake which is Queens Park Lake actually- it does hold lots of fish, they appeared in 80s and seemed then to be roach plus big carp. Full of ducks and mostly fenced by ornamental railings and as I say I'll be shocked if you're allowed to fish- but let us know if you get away with it! Not heard of a Packet Inn in Chesterfield- the canal has been dug out over past 20 odd years but I think most fishing is done from Staveley downstream- try back of Morrisons in Staveley. There is a Packet Inn on the Chesterfield Canal further down where it nears the Trent- bottom side of Retford.
