Spearfishing warning for Blackpool Residents in the seaside town of Blackpool are being warned that they risk hefty fines if they go spearfishing in the local park. A group of youths has been seen in Stanley Park shooting at fish in the lake with a harpoon, which has prompted Blackpool Council to erect Environment Agency posters. According to a report from the Blackpool Citizen, the posters warn that anyone fishing in the lake must have a valid Rod Licence. Those breaching the regulations could be fined up to £2500. A council spokesperson told the Blackpool Citizen: "Fishing at Stanley Park lake is currently prohibited as we don't have a designated angling club to monitor the area to make sure that everyone has a licence and obeys the rules. "There used to be Stanley Park Angling Club but it disbanded due to a lack of interest." The council is keen for anglers to come forward to set up a new angling club to help monitor the water. i found this while looking for something
