Hair rig 6 mil hard halibut pellets, wrap a lump of hardish paste around it, sling it out about 30, 40 yards, on the sraight lead, feed heavy with 6mil pellet, and hold onto your rod.

Fisheries own pellets only and they do check regularly so don't use halibuts as they will not weigh you in if you get caught.
Buy the biggest they sell (10mm) and hair rig them under a large waggler about 1-2 foot deep and keep the pellets going in over the top. The fish go very big and you should see at least 2 or 3 20lb plus fished weighed in. You will probably need around 80 to win your section and up to 200lb to win.
Good luck and hold on to that rod.

can you use your own feed pellets or do you have to use theirs as well.

There own feed and hook pellets. Best off with the largest ones as the carp in here are very big and you will need a few bags to keep them interested.

Not sure of the number but just remembered the pellets are Skretting course pellets so you may be able to source some before hand.

What an absolute nightmare drew peg 9 fished it with straight bomb to a 10mm pellet lost 1 carp on that at the net probably about 10 or 12 lb then went on waggler and lost a further 5 big carp on same size pellet.Ended up with 4 skimmers weighing 1lb 7oz all on big pellet, winning weight was 74lb.What a disaster.

Unlucky 6 carp there could have easily been over 60lb of fish. There are some monsters in there and they do show regularly in matches

Yeah the biggest in ours was 24lb 4oz and was taken on the pole. Thank god it wasn't on my pole as it would have probably snapped.

Went to this awsome fishery yesterday ;D,must have had 150lbs of fish out of the first pleasure pond as you go in,it was just silly really, fishing at 3mtr's 12" of line with a pellet or peice of corn just dangleing 8" below the surface feed 10 4mm, feeder pellets every 60 seconds and the fish were hanging themselfs on. had about 6, 8lb+carp about 20 5lb+carp about a dozen skimmers and a few Rudd. Cafe just up the road sold great food and bait I was a bit worried about the"only their bait" thing, but to be honest it was probably cheaper than in the shops.not for the purist's but a grat day for the lesser anglers .Phill.

Warden: what sort of quantity of pellets do you think you get in a bag? for £1 it's not bad but last time i was there i used 5 bags and could have done with more. The pellets they sell are the Skretting course which i may be able to get hold of but not sure what price. We have another club match there in 4 weeks so may get a bag before then if the figures add up.

To be honest, yesterday every chuck in something attacked the bait so it is hard to form a accurate opinion of it,I caught most fish on sweetcorn,I found it stayed on the hook a bit longer,i used two bags of 4mm feed pellets,my mate told me not to put in to many at once as you will attract lots of fish to it that will then be spooked as one takes the bait, feed little and often there is so many fish there one will always be close,, If you are on the match lake I think on peg number 3 there is a sunken ridge about 30 yards out that people win most of the matches off fishing the wagler just below the surface,,I don't think the method( ie no float ,so close in,) I used would work on the match venue?

In our last match I started on floating pole at 16m with the largest pellet hair rigged and feed 5-6 large pellets over the top every 30 seconds but after taking 2 fish of around 8lb the wind picked up and I couldn't keep the pole in position so went out on the method feeder and endend up with around 40lb (just got my section). I kept feeding a short pole line around 6m with large pellets and took the occasional fish but they didn't seem to settle so close in. I have just purchased 2 of them Garbalino pellet wagglers in 8g and 10g so am hoping to try them next time.

Match there yesterday won with 90 lbs.Off number 3 peg ,apperently there is a sunken Island I think about 30 yds, thats where the fish are hanging about.12 fish apperently. They were mostly fishing wagler 12" deep caterpulting bait in trying to keep the line tight, but there was a strong wind blowing, good luck.

Fished our match there yesterday and boy what a struggle.
I tried everything and couldn't buy a bite. It got to the last hour and I had nothing in the net. I had seen people pulling out a few small roach and skimmers and the odd carp so I knew it wasn't going to be a big weight day. I chucked the rods up the bank and out came the margin pole with red hydro. I emptied a full tin of hemp and a full tin of corn into the margin just off the wooden peg and set up a paste rig 8lb direct to a size 12. I had 45 minutes left to hopefully catch a fish and put a few pounds in the net.
I placed a large piece of paste on the hook and in it went 2 sections out to the side just on the edge of a tree. The float dipped a couple of times then sailed away. After 30 - 40 seconds in came my first fish of the day, 1 carp of around 10lb. On went more paste but I got a little carried away striking at every little movement. Several lumps of paste later I was into another fish, up it came in the water and I dragged it over the net it looked around 14lb. I began to lift up the net and put down my top kit and the bloody thing rolled out straight back in to the water nearly taking my top kit with it. I was lucky enough to grab it just in time and even luckier to still have the fish attached. After 45 minutes I had 5 fish for what I guessed to be around 50 - 60lb. When the scales arrived I weighed in 60lb 2oz to win the match which was incredible considering I had not caught all day.
This is a great venue with big fish but it does get a little windy.
