This isnt far from Yorkshire and i can honestly say theres not a roach venue in Yorkshire which can match the quality of the roach from here my pb bag from here is 34lb of roach averaging about 12oz +. Even though my pb (which i broke yesterday) is only 1lb 4oz you still catch plently over 1lb, i have seen numerous ones over 2lb.
Wheter its pole, waggler or feeder any angler who's got the basic knowledge of whats what WILL have a memrable day the average weight here fro me 2 seasons ago was about 15-20lb. My favorite tactic for big roach is pole 11 metres and sweetcorn over hemp. Although maggot, caster, chopped worm etc all works fine. Yesterday i had my first day up there since it closed down for trout in '04, i got hassled by trout throughout the day which were tough on 8 elastic! But at the end of the day i had about 50 small roach, and 3 decent ones of which 1 was the 1lb 4ozer!
Everytime i hooked a trout it killed the swim probly the reason why i couldnt get to the big ones and i was using mostly maggot but it was a nice day anyway, i ended up with 7lb 12oz.
Anyone who has any questions just ask because this is a hidden gem not many people go there but the fishings quality for £6!
