Well done Steve. Lucky man ! I'd love to have taken up the invitation to fish the place in its hayday, when It held the biggest fish in the country, but I bottled it, (as you do sometimes). Never mind, for someone of my generation its still a special place, with special fish, (even if the are very young special fish). BOF

Quite what it is about the place I don’t really know, but there is something magic about Redmire that seems to make catching fish rather irrelevant. Although climbing trees seems to be a must do.

I used to fish it quite a bit, and it still retains that magic in my heart, even though I became quite familiar with it. It really is special, and well worth a visit. My only sadness over those visits is that, although I fished for 90% of the time, stalking with float or freeline methods, most of my fish came from fishing with bolt rigs and bite alarms in the 10% of the time I was using that detestable method! (I have to sleep sometime) After 30 years of carp fishing, I still prefer to catch my carp by float fishing or free-lining, methods which often out-fish the modern methods, even today. (I had a Yorkshire 27 pounder only a month ago, float fishing.) Perhaps I should have tried jumping out of trees to catch them!
