We have set out targets to catch good size fish for a s book style photo album for my son to enjoy as I don't have many fishing photos nor have I really kept track of the weights and sizes of fish caught. I am looking for venues that stand a chance of providing the following to start with: 8lb+ Bream 15lb+ Carp 7lb+ Tench 4lb+ Chub 3lb+ Golden Orfe 3lb+ Perch 2lb+ Roach I would prefer venues in West Yorkshire but am prepared to travel anywhere throughout Yorkshire. If you don't want to post your secrete venues on here please PM me. It would be great if you could include info such as pegs and tactics for each species at the suggested venue. Cheers, Wayne.

The Bream, Carp, and Chub are all attainable with some effort, but you may struggle with the rest. How did you decide your target weights, as there isn't much correlation between a 2lb Roach and a 15lb Carp (off the top of my head a 2lb Roach is approximately 50% of the record and a 15lb Carp only 25%)? But to kick you off Your Golden Orfe target could be attainable at Lymvale, the Chub from Cundall Lodge on the Swale, the Carp from Raker or Newhay lakes, to name but 2 of many, the Bream from the tidal Trent, almost anywhere, and according to one of the weeklies at least, take a holiday on the Thames for your Perch. ;D BOF

A friend of mine caught a chub of 5lb on the swale by the gates to the Catterick Complex, although this was a few years back and another place near me, Crow Hill Coarse Fishery? I think it's called (North Yorkshire) has or had a good stock of golden orf, I had one around the 2lb mark, this again was a few years back.

The bream, carp, tench, and if you wanna swap the Orfe for an Ide are pretty much attainable at Lakeside at Bielby, its East Yorkshire mind. The Perch and the Roach I would not have a clue mate. The biggest Roach I have caught from Yorkshire were from Underbank in the late eighties/early nineties, Im not even gonna mention numbers and sizes because no one will believe me anyway. I dont think they are present these days anyhow. Wintersett used to be a half decent bet but Ive not fished it for years. At an outside bet the Yorkshire Ouse may have Perch of that size.

Carpvale match lake might not be a bad bet for the Tench, Bream and Carp to be honest. There were some cracking bream caught during our match and I know Tommo had a 7lb+ tench there too. Big perch I'd be looking at the Ouse or possibly the Derwent. Could also have a look at Staddlethorpe pond in Gilberdyke during the Winter as they're definitely there and in decent numbers. I know of at least one 3lb+ this year caught in a match. I had one that would have been around 1 3/4lb in a match last Sunday on there too. Big Roach - please let me know if you find out Selby 3 lakes would be worth a go over the Winter by all accounts, but I've never fished it so couldn't swear to it personally..... njc. p.s, Cracking idea might, good luck with it

The river Wharfe Ings section at Wetherby has some cracking Perch - you should be able to get a three pounder. You may also be lucky and get a 4lb + chub at the same time. Good luck.

A friend of mine caught a chub of 5lb on the swale by the gates to the Catterick Complex. Ssssshhh!! Don't tell everyone.....! There are plenty of chub of 4lb and over in that stretch of river, I have had plenty over the years. The lake there (I think its the Hall Lake, the one without carp in) has some monster chub in it, all of which got in there when the Swale used to flood the lakes.

I know its not a day ticket lake but Hull and DAA's motorway pond at newport can put you well on the way.
8lb+ Bream 15lb+ Carp 7lb+ Tench 3lb+ Perch 2lb+ Roach
The pond holds all of the above,
The golden orfe and chub i will pass on but i suspect the orfe will be in a carp puddle.

Waynec, I don't know how old your son is. If he's young or is just getting started at fishing, then setting him targets seems excessive.
Surely it's better to just take him fishing at a good venue and let him enjoy himself.
