i know sometimes it cant be helped but i wish people would pick up there old line and hooks went fishing last night no sooner set up and heard the pitful cries of a young moorhen tangled up in line on a island in the middle of the pond being the person that i am i wound not of been able to fish with the bird tangled so in i went water chest high freezing i saved the little sod they have really sharp beaks with other anglers clapping i retuned to the bank to fish what got to me most was that other people where fishing and left it there struggling never mind got a couple of fish but went home cold

Well done Danny. Good effort. Unfortunately discarded line is an all too common problem. Could be a bit dangerous wading accross a pond though, you never know if there are any bad patches of silt or drop offs. If you don't know the venue well, i'd advise ringing the RSPCA, they will respond quite promptly.

caring actions mate, but as previous poster said let the RSPCA deal with these sort of things, chest high wading isnt to be taken lightly, if the other anglers didnt rescue a bird in distress, would they have helped you if you had gotten into difficulties?Its hard to see anything suffering, but a persons life is worth more than a moorhens.Tight lines!
