Message to all members.
As is well known the Yorkshire Fishing Forum is not the hub of activity it once was whether that be down to other social platforms, general decline in interest, or simply members moving on, regardless it has given members including myself a vast amount of fishing knowledge, and friendships through social meet ups and generally some of the best laughs I have ever had. Oh the stories I have taken away with me...
With the reduced activity of the site on and off the web, the time has come to consider what's next and whilst the forum will continue to exist, there are no plans to attempt to try and rebuild. A lot of useful information still exists throughout the pages and even I find myself digging something up from years ago for a read. We will be looking at tidying up the forum pages and archiving some of the lesser visited sections so that the main areas are more easily navigated. Nothing will be removed, just archived should you wont to delve into the past (trust me, its worth it even though the pictures may have gone).
The forum was originally founded by someone having taken up fishing and wanting to share information on venues they had fished (I believe he was called Martin but wont share to much personal information) Having developed the site to a point one person could, he decided to step away from the front line and the site was acquired through donations and generosity by a handful of members at the time and it would be fair to say it continued to strengthen in the coming years. During that time the site had built up a pool of funds largely coming via financial support from a number of local businesses and via the social gatherings arranged via the match and carp get togethers. Both I have fished, met some great people and experienced some really great days out. It is with great thanks to all that we could continue the site for as long we we did and have pooled a pot of funds no longer needed. Therefore the admin made the decision pass on those funds to the worthy causes we have supported in the past and handed cheques equally to Martin House and Bluebell Wood Children's Hospices. I don't have a full list of all the charitable donations the site has raised but suspect these last donations will take it over the £10,000 figure across all the years we have arranged an event.
Phil (aka Warden) very kindly arranged for the cheques to be made up and personally dropped them off at each Hospice
A final YF Social is currently being considered and further details will hopefully be posted later.
Again, a very big thank you too all who have contributed, participated or even just visited the site over the years. It wouldn't have existed without you.
On behalf of the whole YF Team past and present.
