Hi, Over where I live near Dewsbury, don't think you can even buy maggots without a 20min at least drive, never mind finding a proper tackle shop. They all seem to have closed, there was one in Dewsbury for a coupe of years, but they where not anglers at anytime. So little knowledge to help/pass on. Now I believe Calder Angling has a new owner, who I'm told knows little about our passion. Grahams at Batley closed a few years back, there was Pete's Tackle in a garden center near Sharlston ? Wakefield, that was taken over too, no a million miles as good as it was, they too probably know little about angling, soon as these people see there is not much profit, they will be gone too. Getting good fair price bait from a shop now is getting a problem.

Plenty of good advice at Petes if it's match or pole fishig you want. Gareth Watson is running it and he wins plenty of top matches. His new hoppo seems ok too. The lady owner is not an angler but her hubby is, but he also has a proper job so isn't in much. Just make sure that Gareth is working before you pay a visit (he's out fishing on weekends).

Pete's tackle not as good as used to be not much stock in there hopefully will improve as has been getting better as months go along but no where as good as before went in last week was bare with loads of empty space. Hope things will improve. Been told person who owns it now is really knowledge able. New owners seem really nice as well

It was fuller Kel because Pete bless his soul, bought all the stock in on tick and filled the shop up. It couldn't have continued like that for long. They are filing it up slowly and sensibly now.

And whilst people continue to buy their gear online or dash off to Bobco whenever they announce a bank holiday sale instead of buying from their local independent shop, even more local tackle shops will close.

Yeah going in the right direction. I go bobco as majority of stuff is cheaper and local to where I work
