Hi There, i am new to this sight and returning to the sport after a (shortish) 25 year break. so much has changed both in the sport and other areas. The main thing i am seeing at the minute is private waters are stating landing nets must be dipped, i can only guess they have some sort of disinfectant tub to prevent spread of water born deseases. thanks for the welcome, i guess i will have plenty more questions to tax your brains later. Cheers Richard

Hi there, Crofton blade, i live in Keghley and prefer still waters and canals but i have fished rivers in matches in the past. not a big fish hunter as such, prefer nice day out in quiet surroundings and steady catches. would like to return to match fishingon a smallish scale. I have fish in Ireland a long time ago in the Athlone area, plannig on doing some in france next year as my wifes brother has just moved there. Richard

Welcome. Nothing beats Motown, Soul and Northern Soul.
In answer to your question, most commercial venues now want you to either: dip your nets (inc. landing net) in the dip tank and rinse. Some places want you to leave the nets to air dry, after dipping, while the match is about to start. Some don't have dip tanks but ask you to leave your nets on the bank the daylight (in the Sun - I wish).
Nothing is easy these days ! - this is to help preserve stocks and not spread disease. Places where you can use a keepnet while pleasure fishing are getting rare ! (except rivers and canals - but is it really necessary) - hope this helps
