Spent a couple of days caravaning at Ferry Meadows with my lad, skinner1889 and fished Gunwade Lake, peg 39. Good conditions for bream with a nice chop on the water although a little bright. Put 12 balls of groundbait with micro pellets, sweetcorn, casters and molasses in at the start at about 40 metres, then topped up with a few balls regularly. Fished a cage feeder with worm on a hair and caster on the hook. Absolutely nothing for 4 hours except the lad getting a few perch. Then the bream moved in. I scaled down to a 16 hook and 2 casters and ended up with 11 bream, with a few at about a pound but then some bigger ones at 3lb, 5lb and the biggest equalling my PB at 7lb 8oz. This one looked massive but was out of condition after spawning- it still had the scars. I was convinced I had a double on my hands. Next day we returned to the same peg with high hopes. It was very hot and sunny. Not even a ripple on the water and we both blanked. Still, that's fishing I suppose. Some pics of the bigger bream. and the biggest,
