You will have to tell us how you got on. 50lb or so won there open match yesterday from peg 7 Steve the lake did not fish brilliantly well if you compare it to the 54lb that won the match on that lake on Sunday our winning weight was just over 20 lb second I think was around 13lb a 10lb weight one fish{carp] then dropping down gradualy to around 3lb for the lowest weights. However we did suffer two quite heavy frosts one on the morning prior to the match and another heavy frost on the day of the match so I surpose it wasnt that bad. I personaly drew peg 20 and weighed 7lb consisting of some quality roach and a single chub about 1lb 12 oz I tried conventional baits pellet worm and caster with very little to show. So I fished mussel on another pole line and had bites straight away catching mainly roach but missing a lot of bites due I belive to the roach not being able to take the mussel baits properly[ pieces of mussel not full ones]. This Is a very nice lake with a good head of quality fish of various species and Is very well kept with good pegs and very clean and tidy. All In all a very good day I would like to fish here again when the fish are more used to the cold weather that obviously knocked the edge of there appetites. I did get bites from the off fishing caster pellet and worm but seemed to be having a problem hitting bites ,fishing the mussel certainly drew In the better roach and a bonus chub, some of my fellow anglers did find It hard to belive that I caught on mussel but I did .
