If I recall, once your 12 you need a licence to fish anywhere (apart from the beach...)
Once this is purchased, there will be free stretches to go at around Leeds I'm sure...though I'm no expert on leeds

Chippies quarry & Roundhay park are free to fish but you still need a rod licence

Where in Leeds do you live young one , ?? Don't want your address or out lol just area You WILL need a fishing licence or your mum and dad will get a big fine,,,, it's £27 for the year, Best bet is to go with someone in your family to help you along,,, and make sure you catch fish,,, All the best jimmy

I started on my local canal great way to start.gotts park park area is good try the basin there but ask your parents for the licence but can get the odd thug down there that will take your tackle of you. basin in Leeds city centre would be your best option also plenty if free river stretches.go to your local tackle shop for advice on tackle minimum you'll need is rid &reel 3lb main line & 1 1/2 lb hook length try hook to nylons and opt for barbless hooks.plz buy a disgorger too essential bit of kit & a landing net.also wortley beck has plenty if fish in.good luck young en!

Get to your local post office with a fiver for a full rod license. Once you have this go to your local tackle shop and ask "where are the closest free fishing spots, lakes and rivers?". I'm sure you'll find some cracking places to fish, and gradually find some great swims to call your own..
