Hi all. Me n my young lad (8) have just started fishing together. We live in Castleford and he is dead set on catching pike. Hopefully someone on here can give us tips, locations and any other general help to get one on the end of the line for him.

Hi Jake and welcome to both of you, my Daughter was a little bit older than that when I started to take her fishing but I loved every minute of it.
I would suggest the best thing would be to look out for one of our Pike Teach-in days, info on those in the Predator section.
Regards
Craig

Welcome Jake, get yourselves to one of the free teach in days, i'm sure you'll have him a pike on the bank in no time.

Welcome to the forum lads, Pike are not a great fish to start fishing for especially at this time of year when they are all charged up and have the energy to cause you harm, my advice would be to enjoy the summer with other species and try for the Pike later in the year when the water cools down and the fish become a little easier to handle. The PAC run teaching days as the lads have rightly said and they are well worth attending, both Wakefield and Selby are not far from you and both are very friendly and helpful for anglers new to Pike fishing.
