Just come back from a bagging session with Elmo, and his son Luke, "dahn sarf" on Elphics Prairie lake, near Tonbridge Wells in Kent, and it was frankly a) amazing fun, and b) justifiably busy. Prairie is run as a runs water and is the home of an unheard of quantity of cracking fish, some were the short dumpy "Simmo" style Mirrors, (but only a few of them), the rest were a mixture of some of the best long lean fighting machines, similar to the "Leaney" strain that resemble big Barbel on steroids, and ghosties. They are in lovely nick, with mouths in perfect order, oh yes, and the colours / scale patterning of some of them are glorious. Allegedly there are over a thousand Carp, Grass Carp, and some Catfish in this 3+ acre lake, which means one of the three aerators is running constantly, even in the moderately warm conditions we enjoyed. I say enjoyed, but in reality it might have been warm but it piddled down, a lot. Leaving things a bit soggy to say the least. In fact, due to numbers of takes we had, and dashing out to help land fish, I actually ran out of clean clothes for the first time in nearly 40 years of session fishing. I well recommend this venue if you want to have some belting fish, in decent surroundings, with a good cafe and showers etc on site. BOF

Elmo, by a mile Bostonman. In fact, (excluding our party), if you added all the catches of all the anglers, both day ticket and session, on the lake last week together, you probably wouldnt beat his total. I suspect the guy could catch carp from an empty bucket. I'll put up more on the trip in the main Carp section later, after I get some kip, and Luke sends the photos, (my hitherto reliable Fuji compact picked this week to throw a wobbly and refused to store the photos I took).
