Went to Scarborough last week, and what a change to the shore defenses. Huge blocks of shaped concrete have been placed all along in front of the castle, where all the old railings have disappeared and a concrete wall has been put in place. Very tidy to look at, no doubt very efficient at protecting the sea wall, but landing anything without dragging it over all these hard lumps will be quite a task. I must not be the only angler vaguely walking up and down the area looking for a spot to fish from, as there were NO anglers present, on this previously well used length. Mind you the town itself was looking very tidy, and vastly more up market than just a few years ago. Way better than Bridlington, (despite the money being poured into the harbour area), and also better than Blackpool, which "Her Indoors" and I visited earlier in the year, and were very dissapointed with. At Scarborough they shore fish up near the sea life center now where the railings are still intact & the rest is a big concrete wall. When the blocks first went in many Anglers clamberd over & fished the rocks but the Coastguard & police took a dim view on this.
That wall is a monstrosity - completly spoilt the view for small children & wheelchair users.
The town has improved a bit this year with the Sandside / Harbour rennovations, after many years of neglect !!. It's a great shame about the corner complex & Atlantis going though

Kevjon, Spurn is a good venue and can pruduce some good fish on the right tide and conditions. The only thing i dont like is it is very rough ground and you find yourself losing a lot of tackle!!
