D ;)ont think theres much in there to be honest. you need to get in the car and drive to apremont. Fish above dam. if you can put up with the tourists. Lac Jaunay is also worth a go, only a couple of miles away.

Lac Du Jaunay is pretty close and is far better than the lakes on site as neptune says. I didn't really fish for carp on it but had loads of roach and bream, there were however a few carpers set up and I know there's supposed to be some decent ones in there. The onsite lake nearest the campsite is terrible (or at least it was a few years ago). There is a lake just off site that seemed a little better but it is still part of the site (had a 6lb sturgeon out) and is a bit more peaceful. Don't know if there's anything big in there as I never caught anything other than the strugeon, tench and rudd....although that's maybe due to my lack of angling skill than anything else.
Don't forget to buy your carte de peche if you're going off site mate.

Go to France quite a lot with the family and with the warm water in the summer I tend to get through a load of bait far more than over here even just cramming a couple of hours in between family stuff. As well as the pellets I normally take corn & spam and make sure take you plenty of hooks, made up hook lengths for some reason I always get through shed loads on holiday. Decathlon in France stock fishing gear and bait nearest is Le Roche-Sur-Yon, fishing stuff at the supermarket is a bit hit and miss. Best day out round the area is www.puydufou.com/en/ you need at least 2 days to see it all but spectacular doesn't describe it adequately enough Have a good one we've stayed at Castels sites before and always enjoyed them

We're going to Camping La Guyonniere which is quite close to Castels I believe. There is a free lake on site so I emailed the owners but obviously they don't fish as they have no idea what is in the lake so I will just take general course gear and hope for the best. They did say that fishing at Lac du Jaunay is 8 euros a day or 30 euros for the weeks permit. I believe there is a fishing coach on your campsite who also runs open matches on the lakes as well as owning his own fishery at La Croix Blanche, might be worth trying to find him.
