Hi guys, just wondered if anyone could share any hints or tips. I am going to Protaras in Cyprus in a couple of weeks time and plan to do a load of fishing, has anyone fished there before? My plan is to fish from the rocks on the shore with a travel rod using lures and spinners! Will also be looking to book some deep sea fishing trips and book trips to go carp and coarse fishing. Just wondered what peoples experiences have been like there and what worked for them? Regards, Andy

Not been for a while but used to go frequently back in the nineties You'll probably find the environs of Fig Tree bay pretty busy although its early in the season so might not be too bad. Its quieter a bit further north towards Paralimni I used to go to Cape Greco not far away to the south - you can cast into fairly deep water off the rocks there. Mostly pretty small sardine type fish on Mepps. Occasional bigger Jacks on bigger spinners like Tobys or lures. On one memorable occasion I caught what I think was a small Barracuda - it had lots of teeth anyway although how it didn't bite through the line I'll never know. Be careful tho 'cos Cape Greco has a military base and is a protected site so I may have been fishing illegally. Better check when you get there Tight lines anyway
