Sorry mate but the wife has booked one of our foster kids birthday parties for Sunday 8th July, despite this been on the calendar for all to see. I have no way of not going if I want to keep both my testicles in the position intended so I will have to drop out. Hopefully with enough notice for you to fill the spot, if not let me know and I will gladly pay my pegging fee.

found this on the interwebby thingy hope it helps us sunday lol. www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?lat=53.7821&lon=-1.2567&scale=5000&icon=xthen click on birdseye and it'll be practically in the middle of your screen best regards Malc. This is what adecam wrote awhile back when it first opened by the looks of things. Had a drive over to South Milford yesterday to check out Mushroom ponds. Took a while to find it and initially stumbled across Gascoine wood which is near by and looks like a nice fishery. Mushroom ponds are on Mill lane but there are actually three Mill Lanes in South Milford so be careful. You take the turning opposite the Swan pub and then turn right after the post office. The ponds are at the top of the road after the garden centre. There are two small established ponds and a larger one currently under construction. Unfortunately there was no fishing allowed this weekend as the building work had made access impossible. However, looks like one to check out in the future.

Just a word of caution, it's very easy to miss the post office completely so you're better off looking for the bus stop and the turning into Mill Lane is opposite that. Just follow Mill Lane to the end and you will see a track heading up the hill, follow that, through the gate where the mushroom sheds are on the left and you'll see the ponds. You can drive right down to the bottom end and round the back of the far pond, which is the one we are on. Hope his helps

as far as i know there are no restrictions on bait. bring your own pellets if you're planning on using them as there is no tackle shop etc on site

i'll ask doug if he wouldn't mind having a run over there as it's only 10 mins from him, that way he can have a proper look rather than the venue owner saying "of course you can get in/out" only to get stuck. plus he's got that flashy 4x4 jobby so he won't get stuck

I wouldn't trust that thing to drag a Tonka toy out of a sandpit Malcolm Anyways, fear not! As the ponds are in a dip all the water runs off very quickly from the track that you drive on. The only reason that guy nearly got stuck when we were there was that a. it had been raining heavily just before and b. He tried to go up the steepest part of the hill in 1st gear, wheels spinning and just got bogged down...numpty! The other plus is that we are on the far pond and the incline is very gentle at that end. We wil have no worries at all, trust me. If I do get time tomorrow I'll take a run down. worst case scenario if anyone loses their bottle (Malc.... ), they can park at the top and I'll ferry their gear down in my flashy 4 x 4 jobby ;D ;D

nice 1 doug, lets hope it's ok down there. we just need to fill the last space now. i'd bring danny, but fishings not his favourite pastime and certainly not when it's chucking it down and knee deep in mud i'm up in york tomorrow, god knows what it's gonna be like up there. raker was an absolute swamp last time we were there, and the rain this time has been much heavier. i wonder if raker, pbf and langwith have become 1 yet

I'll drop him a txt in morning

all the spare places are now taken. i've spoken to the owner at mushroom today and they have suggested that we park at the top of the hill rather than behind our pegs. they have said it is very wet and cars have struggled to leave, and more rain is expected tomorrow. we can do the draw there and walk down to the pegs.

well, what a day that was! the weather was really good to us (for a change) and i can't remember the last time i laughed so much. thanks to all the lads that turned up and made it such a great day. the carp didn't feed too good today, but the lads who were equipped to fish for silvers did much better. results were as follows : 1st - boff II - peg 2 - 40lbs 2nd - tyke66 - peg 7 - 24lbs 3 oz 3rd - jamie - peg 4 - 14lbs 12 oz 4th - beachball - peg 3 - 12lbs 1oz 5th - waterlicked - peg 6 - 11lbs 6th - holdyholdham - peg 11 - 10lbs 13oz 7th - frankyfish - peg 8 - 6lbs 3oz 8th - davidf - peg 9 - 4lbs 7oz paul and paperboy both caught but DNW had the match only been 15 minutes long, frankyfish would have walked it with the 2 small carp he had very early on. just a shame he struggled for the rest of the day. tyke66 had half of his catch disqualified, this was due to the amount of time he actually spent with his feeder half way up the far bank. we refused to weigh in the 3 squirrels, 2 hedgehogs and the wood pigeon that he caught ;D between myself and tyke, our casting skills were the source of much amusement and i swear to you that the far bank is now a foot closer than when we started. well done to boff II for an outstanding performance today and a big well done to tyke66 on a well earned (if not stressful) 2nd place. thanks lads, it's been a real pleasure fishing with you ps. hope you're feeling a bit better tommy1 pps. hope you're ok tetley after having your motor pranged this morning we were only charged for the pegs we used so i don't need any peg fees

Thoroughly enjoyed the day. It was a game of 2 halves for me....nowt for 2 1/2 hours then an 11 3/4lb lump of a ghostie kicked me into action (where's the piccy craig?). Big well done to Boff II for getting his tactics right on the day and giving those Ide a right pasting and a big thanks to all the lads for a good day out. The banter was first class

Yes thank you all for an enjoyable day , It always helps when you manage to draw an end peg even if Beachball is at the next peg singing in yer lug ole for most of the match , he certainly got the anglers on the middle lake to join in with the chorus .

Thanks for a good day lads My SUPERB new Linneaffe reel performed really well on my T.F.G rod with a still water blue float bringing in most of my Ide, and if i had gone onto it earlier instead of sticking to my blackcap feeder tactics to the far bank i may well have done better, it was only my lack of confidence in my float tactics that held me back. Sitting next to Boff II was a real eye opener i've never known anyone that has been so critical about their style and method every fish that was lost he thought about and put forward ideas of how he could do it better next time. He set himself a target of 6 Ide an hour and if he had landed every Ide he had hooked he would have managed the target a very impressive class on pole fishing, thank you. Also i had a good day with some cracking banter with the lads and i introduced some more people to the Y.F Anthem bream song, which seemed to go down quite well. all in all a great day best regards Malc.

i could hear others singing with you malc, but i never realised it was the lads on the other lake ;D Yes, it was St. Winifreds home for the Bewildered, Bedraggled and Clinically Insane's annual knock up on the middle pond yesterday ...(and the 'monkeys with no arms' casting comp on pegs 6 and 7 on our pond ;D ;D ) Apparently some of the inmates anglers on the middle pond recognised Malcolm's dulcet tones from his lengthy stay there in the mid 90's ;D ;D
