When i went last week a guy had a 22lb common on the bank as i was walking round which got my hopes up! Decent stamp of fish in it with plenty of 20s. No baitboats allowed when we were there and the fish get under the trees on the island so not that easy to get them feeding if there are a few anglers on as the fish just sit tight to the island. Very secure place as the gate is locked overnight.

When was the last time you fished it tomeluk? Must be a couple or even 3 years ago now as not bought Rishworths baits for at least 2 years now. The bailiff did say that they ban boats because they can get the baits in under the trees and that is the only place where the fish can get away from the anglers. We walked round the lake and saw 2 large carp dead in the bushes. Not very well policed by the bailiff either as one guy had 3 rods out on 3 pegs and he was bivvied up in the middle peg at least 20 yds from two of the rods. Bailiff not the most welcome of guys either. One mate took his son as his wife was on shift work nights The lad did not fish and had no interest in fishing but they were charged full price for him to sleep in the bivvie. When we booked we were told that they would open the gate for us at 6.00am but they did not turn up until 8.00am. Not been back and won`t be going back. Would be interested to know how you go on with how they run it as things may have changed since we were last there. They needed to.

Ive gotta nip in to climax beforehand to get my bait etc well i say nip i can spend hours in that shop! Lol as i havent got time which is rather annoying! But oh well nevermind! Ill be sure to let you know how me n the lads get on though! Hopefully ill have some photos to show! So where abouts do u like to fish then??

I have fished Sommerton reservoir on the Isle of wight regulaly as I have family there. Its located on the Newport road as you come out of Cowes - only 10mins away. Its by Cowes Health Centre so anyone will tell you where it is. Owned by IOW Angling Ass but can buy £8 day ticket from paper shop on Cowes high street above sainsbury's. Its only about 150m sq but its 7m deep. The side by the car park is a shear drop but the other three sides slope at 45 degrees. The sides are made like a dry stone wall. You see guys lobbing out great balls of food on Method but I have caught many carp on a light running ledger just gelty put in aboput 3m out. Hide behing a bush and wait. The carp patrol the edges scrounging bait thrown in after the session. For a weight, use swan shot fixed to a peice of line attached to a swivel so that if it gets caught in between the stones you can pull it free. A lead bomd is likely to jam. Best Carp just over 20lb, best catch - 16 Carp in one evening. So if you're going to IOW for Holidays then take yer tackle! Tackle shop in Newport is Scotties at the back of Boots.
