After the tourists have departed the beaches you need to cast out 50 - 60yrds with a heavy lead and a small sardine. Skate are the quarry and run to 200lb - Yes you read it right! I don`t think there are many, if any, lakes on Fuerty so it is sea fishing for Skate, Tuna and Marlin. I fish the lakes on Gran Canaria where the wild carp run huge and fight like fury. I will be out there at the beginning of April for my 4th 7 day visit in less than 12 months. If you wish to fish the lakes in the Canaries then Gran Canaria is the only island that can really offer a good lake fishing trip for the day or however long you require. You can bivvy you can take your family and stay in lakeside apartments. It can be tailored to suit you. All tackle, equipment and bait is supplied. (Nash, Solar, Viper) and your guide is a top english carp angler who has fished all the top english waters and caught most of the top english carp in his day before setting up in Gran Canaria. PM me if you are interested in more info.

good info tomeluk, it is fuerte im going to, 6th april, have just been told that for around 70 euro's i will get on a boat but its not worth it, best off with a travel rod, bit of tackle and spend the evenings on the coastal rocks, good thing is theres a tackle shop in the harbour so should be sorted

Hi Kezzer. Your great photo of the lake is the southern end towards the dam wall. Dave runs his tours and and organises the apartment rentals at the northern end of the lake now and has exclusive access to about 8 swims All the rods, reels, bivvys, chairs and beds are new this year from Nash and Dave has on order 6 sets of ther new Nash Siren Alarms. I take my own rigs and leads but everything else is provided including a Viper baitboat and all bait. Transfers to and from the Airport are available or you can just have a days fishing with pick up and drop off at your hotel or resort. I am out there in early April for a week on the lake. We stay in a studio apartment which has a patio with a fantastic view right down the lake. This will be my 4th visit in the last 12 months and I rate the fishing on Chira as probably the most exciting carp fishing in Europe. It is far removed from the stocked lakes of France and is an entirely different experience with the rugged scenery all around and the hair raising experience of playing and landing huge wild carp over the rocky bottom and sides of the lake. You land a carp and retie your rig having cut about 3 mtrs of line off your spool as you will be able to feel the abrasions in the line that the fight has created as the line rubs against the rocks. Sometimes the fish wins and the line gives. How big was that one is the thought. Could that have been a new Gran Canarian record because I am sure record breakers are in there. If my week is a successful one I will put in a full report and learn how to insert photos.
