Me and my dad are going up to the loch to do some building work on a property which is actually on the loch, and like any one who loves fishing over work would like to give a crack at it. supposedly the biggest brown trout was caught there a mere 31 pound  . just after any advise on how to fish the loch or if any1 has had a go at any other cheers si  |

trout season on the loch is currently closed and doesnt re open till middle of march, however the Pike season is well worth it on the loch Ive got a few friends who go to loch awe most weekends and double figure fish are common.

tbh any fish will do after a long day at work a double figured pike would be ok i suppose, there must be monsters in the loch tho its that big. what would you suggest for the pike, bait, technique wise cheers

try portsonachan or start of the barrage
under trout farm nets good ambush areas for the pike
but boat wud cover lot more water
as i found out when i fished it had a few decent fish best goin 23 10

well were going to be doing some work on sonachan house and staying in the lodges near to the house in portsonachan so seem to be at right spot. can you live bait?? or is it dead n lures?

Fished it many times in the 80's, on the very southern end of the loch.
There were some large peninsulas going out into the lake so we parked up and fished, no signs or info so we figered someone would come along.
No one ever did so........
Loads of trout and loads of perch which had never seen a hook before, We actually had maggots with us to fish on loch ken, but the fish on Awe were mad for them !
It was not unusal to have over 40 perch averaging 12oz to a pound plus in just a few hours, and the odd bonus trout.
Never saw a pike, but the perch fishing was mega easy......

in the barrage the trout fishin is  easy last time i was there feed mags like pellets spray them bout 10 yrd out n they went mad whole shoals of fish frm 12oz to 2-3lb every chuck lobbys good aswell |
