Hi all.
I am planning a two weeks touring caravan holiday next June. It has to be a 'keep the wife happy' during the day and fishing late afternoon/evening for me as the evening are long at that time of year.
I have been looking at Sycamore Lakes at Burgh le Marsh near Skegness. Has anyone out there in anglingland, had any experience of this complex they can share with me or any other venue recommendation in that area.
Thanks in advance to all who contribute.

fished here for 2 weeks in june for the past 2 years, very very good venue. loads of double figure carp to be caught.
the ponds are as follows:
ROADSIDE- ideal for the float or pole angler as the lake is quite small and a simaler depth all over. best pegs i have found are the ones near the willows. dont fish to light tho as there are some lumos in here i have managed fish to 15lb in here.
ISLAND- My favourte lake on the complex lots of nice swims with lillies and the island to fish to. there are some pegs on the island but they are very rarley fished from. again dont fish to light on this lake as it holds a number of 20lb fish, my biggest out of here is 14lb but i had 9 doubles in 4 hours this june. best catch 29 carp in the day between 4lb-12/13lb. sweetcorn. meat, and most general supermarket baits work well, but i found prawns and mussels are very difficult to beat.
MATCH LAKE- this is a very good lake, website states no fish over 10lb but believe me there are some big fish in here. had planty of low doubles and saw a 17lber caught this year, fish down the track with hard baits as there are millions of tiny perch which unlike other venues i have fished will take anything, ive had them on corn, meat, pellet. found 8/10 mm pellets best for the carp.
SPECIMEN LAKE- This lake is full of big fish, but can be very difficult at times, having spent a few days on here i have found mornings and evenings to be the best times to fish on this lake. A lot of anglers on here fish out in the middle and on the top using beachcaster style methods, i think the fish have wised up to this as not many are caught like this anymore, i caught a lot of fish including 1lb plus roach, tench to around 5lb and carp to double figures fishing a float down the edge feeding and hooking corn.
I hope this helps and anything else i can help you with dont hessitate about messaging me. If you do decide to go you wont be dissapointed.....

Yes indeed. Thank you so much hi3nd3ath. You have got me gagging to give ita go. Bof the website www.sycamorelakes.co.uk/ has all the details. The Lakes have a fully stocked tackle shop where you can buy daily, weekly or season tickets at a very reasonable price. Although I will be giving all the lakes a go, I am leaning towards the Island Lake to be right up my street. We have a great tourer that will allow me to walk to a peg ready to go. Barry

Tickets are collected by hose, the owner everyday, if you are fishing everyday is well worth buying the week ticket as you save a day and a halfs ticket money, tackle shop on way to ingoldmells is more better than the one on the site which i found has a lot of things to catch the angler not the fish, and is quite expensive for what they sell....
Glad i was able to help

Going to Sycamore Lakes on June 17, for two weeks. I am hoping for good sport. I will post a full report on how it went on my return.

Just returned from the lakes after a superb two weeks holiday. hi3nd3ath was spot on with his descriptive of what to expect. All lakes fished well apart from the Specimin Lake which was, as most of the regulars pointed out fishing poorly over the past couple of years, although when it was the first lake I fished, I caught my first double. A nice 12lb 8oz mirror in superb condition.
Each lake had a character of it's own and each one capable of many surprises with many 18 - 20 pound fish being taken. Whatever method of fishing you favour, there is something for you. I do mostly silvers at home so took the opportunity to target the carp for a change and did not blank once over the whole two weeks. Many anglers fished for silvers and was amply rewarded with good catches of quality roach and perch. I like the idea of never really knowing what you are going to get. I took quite a few different boilies but in the end used mostly meat with a PVA stick mix of my own making.
I received a message from hi3nd3ath to say he would be arriving during my stay. I did meet up with him and he gave me a great demonstration of surface fishing freelined bread.
The tourer site was one of the best we have stayed in for a long time and my fears of the early morning and late night antics of unruly enthusiastic anglers were unfounded. The cafe served great Sunday lunch and English breakfast.
All in all, I will have no hesitation returning and can recommend this venue to anyone who feels they want to give it a try.

I've just got back from a week in Skegvegas but didn't fish Sycamore as it was fully booked when I turned up loads fishing it so I went further afield and found a little off track place heading out to Burgh-Le-Marsh village on the Orby road. Two ponds the bottom one small but with big carp roaming biggest I had about 11lbs top pond has loads of carp and big tench I again had carp from there largest to around 14lb but I couldn't weigh it as it was blowing a gale and I was s ping to keep the brolly planted Sorry guys I don't know what the fishery is called but the two days were well worth the £5 one rod or £7 for two I fished sweetcorn and meat (pepperami pieces) over a mix of hemp and maggot......there was a local guy fishing and he gave some top tips for both ponds. I also gave the caravan park of 'Southview' ponds a go one being Maple and the other Cedar.....Maple provided some good roach but I struggled to hit the big babies.....got two lovely carp out of Cedar and some nice bream and rudd the carp still being high in the water. Best of British if you give it a go.....make sure you get the local knowledge and check the bait restrictions first....loads of 'em I also found a good tackle shop on the A158 toward Skeggy turn left onto Roman Bank 'Fishing 4U' on left....
