Funnily enough I said to my mate today that is was about time we made our first visit of the year to DTR. Cracking venue (one of my top 3 at the minute), g.co/maps/afgz9 between 30-40 pegs over two lakes but they only allow 15 anglers per day, you have to pre-book and order breakfast if you want one, Carol does cook a lovely full English, normally served in two sittings between 9-10am. I can't remember which way round it is cos I just pay the £11, but IIRC it's £5 for fishing and £6 for Breakfast (last years prices). They started renewing all the platforms towards the end of last year so that will improve the fishery no-end. It holds some very nice Bream, Roach, Rudd, Tench, Eels and Carp. Ring Carol on 01427-890460, I'll be spending quite a few days here again this year. A load of pics hereRegards Craig

First day here this year, first of all for we learned today that Terry passed away over the Winter, I think Carol has been finding it hard but she is soldiering on keeping the place running, lovely bacon butties this morning.
The water level was pretty drastic here but it is now well up, the highest I have seen it and several of the platforms on both lakes have been renewed at last.
Apart from myself and my mate there were another five anglers here today, the chap next to me had a stonking day with Carp after Carp in the margins on Pole and Meat, towards the end of the session he managed a lovely looking Barbel that must have been knocking on, if not into double figures.
I had quite a slow day on feeder out the middle, couldn't buy a bite till dinner time but then the Bream woke up and it was a fish a chuck on double bronze maggot on the ground-bait feeder. I also chucked a waggler into the margins to my left (in-between myself and the bloke above), that line was showing interest on both punched meat and maggot, feeding soft 4mm pellet.
After a couple of skimmers on the waggler I concentrated again on the feeder for the last hour or so and had a few more Skimmers, Bream and small Roach, didn't see any sign of the Rudd which are usually at the bait as soon as it hits the water.
Dave fished opposite me on the railway side and stuck to his trusty Waggler ending up with 10+ fish, one being a nice Chubb caught on meat, Rudd on worm with Perch and Gudgeon making up the bag on maggot.
The lovely weather topped off another brilliant day here.
R.I.P. Terry.

Yeah there are some very nice Carp, Tench, Bream, a few nice Eels and nets full of Roach and Rudd. If it is anything like last year you may have to feed off the Rudd, they were at the bait as soon as it hit the water.
My mate swears by the bottom end of the big pond, supposed to be the best end for the Tench.

Good to see you again today pal....but I'm a tad red after all that sun!
Didn't do too bad after you guys left, it really picked up around tea. Ended up with 11 different species which was quite nice, and that was without a perch! Had a Barbel which was welcome, but biggest carp I managed to land was 6lb 5oz...same old story though, did lose bigger lol.
Lovely place and very welcoming owner.

Likewise, good to see you again Scott, what time did you stay till?. I was tempted to stay for an extra hour or two but I was well and truly fried and in need of my Air Con. Unusually poor day for me here , first time I've not had a couple of Carp, Tench or Bream but someone (naming no names) was on my Favourite peg . I couldn't buy a bite on the feeder for the first hour or two so switched to waggler in the margins on double maggot where it was Rudd, Roach and Skimmer a chuck ending up with 30+ fish. I chucked feeder out for last half hour and did have one run with a Pineapple boilie but didn't manage to hit it. I think a floating bait would have been a killer here today but I didn't have anything with me. My mate fished opposite me and had a pretty good day with 3 Tench to about 2.5lb on corn and waggler, one Perch on maggot and waggler and a bag full of Bream, Roach and Rudd caught on waggler, the majority with corn and the remainder on Krill flavoured meat or Bag 'em Up yellow garlic flavoured meat.

I packed up at 6.20pm, was getting virtually a carp a cast in the margins on pepperami still....but I had had enough by then.
Did catch 3 what looked like some kind of fantail carp, only thing I can liken them to was a kind of brown goldfish/common carp hybrid....weren't really cruciany, but first time I've caught them anyway.

They have 2 or 3 ornamental ponds and I believe they move fish from those to the fishing ponds when they get too big or the ponds become overcrowded through breeding. maybe it was some of those you caught.
