Hi All,
I have read the venue review for the River Trent @ Laughterton and have a few questions - I tried e-mailing Wayne G on the address he provided but got a e-mail rejection. If anyone can answer these questions it'd be much appreciated!
*It said the stretch is controlled by the Lincoln & District AA - where/how do I go about getting a day ticket for this location? *Now for a really school-boy question! It mentioned it was best to go when the tide was right - now I have no idea whether this is high or low tide!! Could any clarify this for me please? Thanks in advance! All the best, Rich

free fishing if you no were y goin here mate, the only way i can describer it is if you go down threw the village past a farm on y rite, wen you get to the trent turn rite on a dirt track drive for about a mile and you will see an island in the middle of the trent ,yes an island, fish to the island for some mixed results,i had a 4lb perch there a couple of seasons back,oh forgot to mention you will need a 4x4.
Steve.

This is not free fishing. The fishing rights are held by Ranmoor Piscatorials.

Lincoln & District have fishing at Laughterton, its a steal at £20 for a yearbook with another stretch of the tidal at North Clifton and plenty of other lakes and river stretch on the Witham etc. Call Dave Ellerker on 01777 228133 or email: davidellerker@btinternet.com.

Am pretty sure there is some free fishing at laughterton, there is a reasonable length that belongs to the EA.

At the entry point (at the bottom of Marsh Lane) upstream is initially Lincoln water as correctly stated by Ullsock. Above Lincoln's water it is Ranmoor Piscatorial up to, and a bit above, the island. Above that (opposite the EDF power station on the other bank) there's a bit that is not available to public fishing. Then there's a short bit that is day ticket on the bank that takes you up to the EA Torksey intake. As far as I know there is no free fishing upstream of Marsh Lane as suggested. If you don't pay for club membership (and nobody can argue that Lincoln's £20 a year isn't dead cheap) then eventually clubs can't pay their rents and waters are lost to the public. It's dead easy for a farmer to put a lock on a gate if he's not getting any rent. What's the deal about trying to get a bit of "free" fishing, there's loads of fishing on the Trent that just costs a few quid.

I am not trying to scare anyone off here. But if you haven't got an all out 4x4 don't go down much further than the Lincoln stretch as there is a 200 yd section that is a total shocker and just not worth wrecking your car or worse.
