;DHi,Iam going up to Ullapool soon for a few days and need a bit of advice. We went last year and spotted quite a lot of sea trout(we were told by locals)jumping out of the water.I tried spinning with no luck. The locals told me to use a bubble float and a fine, thin slither? of silver mackerel flesh which I also tried with no success. Some of the fish were a good size and well within casting distance. If anyone can give me any advice on catching them it would be much appreciated.Thanks,P.P.

Persevere with the spinners. I fished for years in a sea loch north of Ullapool(Kinlochbervie) and caught lots of sea trout on silver tobys and flying condoms. During the day you will mostly catch pollack (cuddies) but as the light drops and if you are prepared to fish into darkness the sea trout will fall

Thanks for the advice lads but I never saw any sea trout let alone caught one.We did manage to catch some pollock, some cracking, hard fighting ballan wrasse and a surprise red rock cod.All these fish were caught amazingly on float fished LIMPETS!
