Just back from a weekend away at Lakeside (unfortunately this place is not open to the general public)caravan owners and family only, but thought this photo and the comments this chap made are worth a posting. I asked him if I could take a photo,he said he did not normally take pictures of fish under 20 lbs but like a pro he held the fish slightly away from his body (makes it look bigger) nice chap had a good talk to him about the lake,he said a good day would be to catch 3/4 Carp with a lot of them in the twenty's.

My parents have a static caravan on that site. Anyone can fish the lake - people with touring caravans and tents on the tourer field can, along with caravan owners - you don't need a permit to fish the lake, but you do at least have to be stopping on there.
There are some nice fish in there - my biggest 22 1/2 lbs carp was caught on there - just along from where the pic above was taken - on floating crust. A lot of carp in the twenties? There are certainly a few, but the majority of the carp I have had are low to mid doubles. Lots of bream too, with nice tench, roach, perch and big pike in there, along with some big Eels.

HHmmm seems strange that Warden put that you couldnt fish it Some confused messages there had a look on the web site and said people stopping at the site had full access to all the facilities. I think i may well be taking the family there on holiday soon lol. Your mum and dad hire out their static out do they ;D

my understanding is that you cannot rent out your caravan it is for owners/family only and that the site does not rent them out either, you have to have a electronic pass to get into the site and a chit to get into the club (although I have never been asked to show it.)that is why I said it is not as such open to the general public.
can you post a link to the site please as I have not been able to find one cheers.

www.donamottparks.com/index.aspYou can either buy one of their holiday homes or use the touring caravan park of the sites and the facilities are for the use of residents on the sites only.

You could "rent" out your caravan if the person says they're a family friend/member. Then just go to reception and ask for passes for the club, and tell them which number caravan you are in. I think it'd be a small fee to get in the club - but nobody ever asks when you go in, so you normally get away with paying the quid or so for club access - though you would have to pay for swimming. To get in the gates, like warden said, you need an electronic pass OR a keypad number to access to grounds. Nice place - definitely worth going there, even if just in a tent. There is also Oasis fisheries just down the road - now that is a cracking place to fish!! www.oasislakes.co.uk/

warden and i organize regular trips to lakside (twice a year +) and its a great place to stay. Theres plenty of fisheries around that area (6+ in the local village) We went to oham lakes and saltfleetby fisheries. These are 2 great places for all levels of anglers (even the first timers we took loves it) stockes with all species of fish ranging from a few ounce to double figure. warden had a good day ay oham lake, (dispite the rain) catching carp, skimmers and tench up aginst some reeds.(this was a peg he insisted on fishing three weeks in advance). i didnt do so well, all i could manage was skimmers, untill i swiched to paste and lost a big carp.
I did better at saltfleetby fisheries, lots of skimmers, bream, tench and i even managed to get a few carp. One about 8lb, two 6lb and about 6/7 around the 3lb mark.
If anyone gets the chance to go for a weekend i would recommend it!
Just to clear up any confusion about lakeaside, Caravans are for owners, family and there guest ONLY,(i.e my mum owns a caravan, so i can go with some friends) NO renting out and NO all male/female parties. There is a campsite with all facilities and you can use everything the lake has to offer, inc the lake. You do need a pass for the club (available at reception, but ive never been asked) and a gate pass (or code, again from reception) to get on to the site.

Not quite correct I let Graham (one of the none fishermen) have MY peg, shows what a good sport I am ;D I fished Oasis lakes on Friday afternoon caught really well as Ryan says there is a lot of great waters around that part of the world. We really enjoyed the weekend even though the weather was pants, Well perhaps not? Ryan at Saltfleetby with one of his Carp.
