me not being a sea angler im stuck on helping my bro with a simple feathers rig. he's just bought a small tele rod to go fishing for a couple of hours while he's on holiday, he's got a small boat which he wants to fish from, so he wont be casting, just poping over the side and jigging(?). please help..... hi, most mackeral feather rigs, have 5/ 6 hooks. dependant on how heavy the rod is ,you may find it better to cut a hook or two off. not the whole hook, just the bend at the btm of the shank. that way you get the attraction of the full set, but only stress the rod with 3/4 fish[if your lucky] attach with either a blood /grinner knot to top loop, and loop to loop a lead clip to the btm. for the lead.[you can use a bar type lure for added attraction], .chance of a bass/pollack/coalie etc it will pay to check the knots ,etc before using. and to help stop tangles, look at the way the snoods[droppers] come off the rig body, tie it on so it looks to be upside down, that way they stand off better.
