www.fisheries.co.uk/fennes/index.htm ....Found this ukzero. Looks like a good complex. There is also the river mead that runs through it, and looking at google maps theres the river stour just to the north east...infact there is a few rivers dotted about the general area...Not sure about the fishing potential though...Should imagine they'll hold chub, trout and grayling. Maybe barbel and general coarse fish too. Hope that helps, Dan

No worries I'd be intrigued to know the result if you get time to try one of the little local rivers. You never know whats in em'. Matt hayes loves little known rivers. Surely they'd be worth a go Dan

im from essex, and can point you in the right direction.
A Blinding lake at henham, got loads of carp, koi, ghosts and sturgeon. As for rivers, i could tell you where my secret spots are if you want to travel to harlow/roydon and fish the river stort, or you could go to dobbs weir on the lea, or kings weir. Its about 35/40 minutes from braintree, straight down the 120, m11, a414. let me know if your going, and ill put you on some 6lb chub....

used to be i think, but not anymore, i havnt lived in harlow for 12 years but as i work for chelsea FC, im always down that way and go after work every night. I was there last week, but the water was 6ft up and i couldn't hold bottom with 8oz of lead!!! Dobbs weir was nearly over the road, and chocolate brown. I fish in Roydon, in a tiny little weir, and i have had around 10 chub in my short 2-3 hour sessions. Most at 4lb, 2 at 6.5lb. And i know there are more monsters lurking.....Saw a 5lb chub bitten in half by an enormous pike just before christmas...
