Sounds like you had a worthwhile trip cabbo. 6lb chub, 17lb barbel, we can only wish up here. That John Wilson's a lucky bloke, he always seems to like fishing the Wensum. Hardly surprising is it?

I've fished the stretch for two days this summer. Had great roach sport in the early morning and evening. Had two big pike too both 15lb plus. Both caught whilst reeling in roach on2lb line and 22 hooks. I stayed at the hotel ( wouldn't reccommend it) was alittle disappointed with the stretch though, like you say very overgrown with weed and difficult to get to the banks due to 12 feet of cress next to the bank. The section at the nearby Kingfisher lakes was much easier to fish.

Rented a cottage at Attlebridge once, with the river at the bottom of the field. I would have to say I was told this by the owners son, as you couldnt tell the river from the field, due to the weed growth. I couldnt get a bait through the weed, and ended up fishing an area on the outskirts of Norwich. That bit went syndicate later I think (due to the big Barbel that lived in the length at the time. BOF
