I've know catfood and dogfood are great carp baits. Last time I was out, a guy showed me how he was using a baiting needle just to pull his large hook (12 or so) through a soft mushy chunk then he just shipped it out carefully and within a couple of minutes away went the float and he was into a fish. I was wondering what makes/brands people use though. Do you just go for the beef or are other meats any good? When I was in Morrisons the other day I checked out the shelves and most of it seemed to be in jelly. I bought some pedigree chum in gravy which when I opened it had large quite solid chunks. Not the type I'd seen people using. Gave it a try with no success and then liquidised it at home and used it in a method mix. Anybody got some recommendations? Thanks Dave T

Chosida catmeat from Lidle, I have not used it for over a year now as most venues i visit have banned it but any flavour will do. I have had good success on the fish one (i think it is salmon and something else) it used to be in a blue tin and the purple tin was also good (again not sure but I think it was lamb). Just make sure it's in gravy and not jelly

I use the co-op make 'Supreme' beef or chicken in gravy. Had plenty of carp from Kiveton over the last week with chunks hair rigged. Stays on really well and will withstand a decent cast.
