Hi all, I am traditionnaly a sea angler who is new to course fishing. Having moved to bradford from devon, i am looking to start course fishing but i have a question:- When you refer to yearbooks, do these allow you to fish the waters of a club at no extra cost?? I am not sure as some waters are, say £10 for a day ticket, yet the yearbook is only £20. Also what is the difference, if any, between a having yearbook and being a club member. Hope you can help. P.s. does anyone know of any good books etc that give a guide to the waters in W.Yorkshire. Many thanx BoB

Basically YES,( it often does not make sense to buy a ticket if you want to fish more than a few times, however some clubs have restrictions that make membership difficult, such as living within a given radius of the club H.Q.). A few local clubs such as Bradford No.1 A.C., Leeds Amalgamated A.C., Wakefield A.C.& York A.C. are really good value depending on what kind of fishing you wish to do. BOF.

Two exellent guides to buy are Stillwater Angling in Yorkshire andits sister book River fishing in yorkshire. There is another book called 30 premier venues by stan warr this is a stillwater book. The yearbooks mentioned are as stated very good value, you will find though that the leeds waters are hard to get onto at the weekends owing to the heavy match scedule. You would be better fishing these during the week.cheers oldun.PS the books can be bought at most tackle shops.
