Can anyone give me any tips on threading line through used rig tubing, it's a pain in the ****....once I've used it I can only manage to thread it through around a foot length and I use a lot longer tubing than that most of the time, I use very limp lines, cut the end on a angle which helps a little and I've even purchased a tube threader which is naff if the tubing has a thin diameter...cheers guys for any suggestions because I'm not spending a fiver on it every time I go.

I've never used it but could you do it with a diamond eye threader like we use to thread pole elastic through pole top kits? Couple of quid from tackle shop

You need to ensure it is completely dry internally any water inside massively increases friction I just hang it up somewhere for a week or three. In terms of "limp" or soft line, I assume you are using 10/12lb minimum? start using 6/8lb and its not easy for sure. Also try to work with the minimum of line between your fingers and the tube end, that goes some way to stopping the line bending while feeding it in.
I have tried making a tube threader, 15LB wire with a eye whipped into it, but that never worked effectively . There was one company which produced tubing with a threader in place, but looked quite chunky .

Had exactly the same bother a few years back when a water I was on banned lead core leaders and we had to switch back to tubing again. Back in the day the stiff line had a chance of going through if the stuff was dry, but with modern soft lines I was stuffed. The match lads on the site came up with the diamond eye threader solution for me and that was the end of my problem, just as long as I didn't want to use anything longer than a metre anyway. BOF

Never had any problems myself when the tubing's dry, it is a pin when wet. Could you thread lower diameter line through first and use that to pull your line through.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions, It looks like I will have to make sure my tubing is always dry then and I will probably buy a different style threader and give that a go...will try the lower diameter line first too.

I use a diamond eye threader but it's still very difficult/impossible with small bore tubing so I've ended up going to larger bore tubing. I did experiment with using pike trace wire for threading but it's difficult to come up with a way of securing the line to the trace that will still pass through the tubing without the line coming adrift when pulling it through.
