It seems that over the past year or so traffic on this site seems to have slowed considerably?? Hardly anyone seems to post much? Does anyone have any clue why?

I think a lot of ex posters have now joined facebook groups. Lots of them around now. I still do the forum but also do the facebook groups as well. Even the mods and admin don't post much these days

I always refused to go on it. Till a couple of years ago when I succumbed. There's loads of fishing stuff on there, some good groups as well. You don't have to become a manic facebook user, you can pick and choose what you see on your page- mine's almost all fishing and football! And if you want to you can just read stuff and never post anything at all.

I agree I think FB sites are the reason forums are going quiet of late. Single species pages are popular with four or five specifically targeting popular barbel rivers in our county. It's a shame but I suppose it could be progress. (Plenty of northern soul pages crofton ) Mick.

I look in on this site daily and yes it is quiet, I don't have anything to do with face book and the like. Far too many mouthy know it alls and some of the language is diabolical.

My excuse for not posting much these days is I am now a lot healthier and more mobile. So I am actually going fishing 2 - 3 times per week, and to do that I am either making bait, (I always did believe in giving Carp some snap), or tying rigs, instead of siting at a keyboard. But maybe, when I have something more to say, I'll put it on the Carp section*.
*Note, that's Carp speak for "I am having a rubbish July / August. I've caught naff all, so I am in a strop, and ain't going to write owt till I have landed something worth writing about".

forums (websites)are now a bit like a old library tons of useful information, history, photo's records of what happened when, info about venues etc.but all this comes at a cost. Time effort and commitment ! and people don't want that nowadays,Facebook offers a quick instant access to a lot of one line info (for want of a better description)a lot of it rubbish! Some is very good.Putting photo's on fb, is a doddle compared to doing the same on a forum. i am a member of facebook but just unfollow any subject or person is constantly posting that is not what I want to see.

Unfortunately now, Facebook & google is the internet for a lot of people They look no further for information and assume everyone else is on there too. It is doing away slowly with individual websites to a point where we will all be forced on there. For me there is something wrong about a platform where people are becoming used to reporting what they are doing and where they are at all times of day and night.
