Hi guys I fancy going to the coast to get a few mackerel for the table this summer. Can anybody recommend venues from the shore/piers that offer a few fish and the best months/times/tides to catch them? Also any successful methods bait/feathers/spinning etc. Thanks in advance. Gerry

Gerry,
They all work. Anywhere on the coast that allows you access to relatively deep water close in (eg, rocks, piers, jetties) will produce. Best trying from about July onwards. The problem is, when they are in, everybody else knows and you end up following the crowd. If you can find a more out of the way place (as I fortunately have) it can be excellent sport from July onwards. Great food, and also good for freezer stocking for pike deadbaits.

I usually spin, but will get a fly rod out this year. Anything shiny will get hits
