I have never fished Arran but I reckon it's a fair bet there will be plenty of dogfish around. Parts of the west coast hold some very nice pollack too as well as some wrasse at this time of year. Ask for advice in the local tackle shop for shore marks. It might be worth a boat trip too since you can get into deep water quite easily and there are rocky outcrops around Ailsa Craig and Bute where you can get into the big pollack. Let me know how you get on because I fancy a trip up there sometime myself.

You shouldn't be short of bait fish thats for sure. All I could do was to catch Joey Mackerel by the stone, when I was there. Great fun on my light Spinning rig, but eventually it gets a bit too easy. They are great, almost straight out of the sea, on a Barbecue though. Just a quick gutting and wrap in foil, and on to the grill. But MooMoo will no doubt be along soon with a better recipe. ;D BOF
