Anybody fished here recently? Heard various reports about bass and thornbacks being caught but I have fished it the last 2 weekends and not had a rattle on the rod tip. The handful of other anglers there appeared not to have had anything either.

Any reports in the magazines/weeklies are anything up to a month behind the times, and in some cases several months. BOF

I'm really cynical about this to be honest (especially on a Monday when I'm back at work! ) After a few years of buying sea fishing magazines I realised that a lot of the 'reports' are repeated at the same time every year almost regardless of what is actually going on. More often than not any reports of quality fish caught at popular marks also usually mean that only one or two quality fish have been caught between several dozen anglers over a few weeks. The chance of even seeing one of these caught is usually pretty slim. I don't know if it's the magazines trying to perpetuate the myth that we've still got plenty of fish in the sea or just that a lot of the sea fishing community is in denial that most of the sea is like a barren desert now.

i'm cynical too simonjh, over the years i've found its the marks you don't hear about that are worth looking at, we've proved it on numerous occasions. ;D
