For the first time I'm putting away the coarse gear this winter and getting on the beaches, dabbled a little before but nothing serious. Do many of you guys swap over or do both? I'm looking forward to a new challenge, plus I've now got an excuse to go and buy some more gear Andy

I used to do a lot of winter sea fishing, usually at night in big northerly/easterly storms and loved it. I'd surf by day and fish by night and found on the east coast the amount of wonderful quiet spots to be fantastic I miss it....... Enjoy yourself

I have dabbled a fair bit of the last 3 winters. Memories of standing on a remote beach, at 2am, with a northerly blowing sleet into my face, to catch a codling. Not for the faint hearted but a great adventure. Haven't been this winter yet, the yorkshire coast has plenty of options to go at.

Oh yes, that's the feeling face so cold that it hurt with hands round the Tilly lamp just to try n get some feeling back in em! Good times Back in the day we used to get some nice codling out in good numbers but I watched the fish decline over the years

Dont Scare Andy Off It has taken me nearly 20 years to get him to give beach casting a proper go Its always warm mate, especially at 2am in mid January. The Cod are plentyful and although there is sometimes a gentle breeze you hardly notice it Rob

I've started to do do a little bit of sea fishing this year n will be doing more as the winter rolls in. Have been 5 times since beginning of sept fishing either Brid pier or Whitby and have not blanked yet!!! Not caught anything of great size yet but catching plenty of whiting to jus short of a lb off brid pier 2hrs before H/T (good sport on light tackle!) n a few flatty's, dab's n plaice after H/T, also caught a small ling at Whitby. Never thought sea fishing could be so productive, really enjoying it n will also be giving the beaches a bash at some point. ATB Jammin
