I do the odd session when on holiday and have found frozen baits fall off a lot. If I can't get fresh I've tended to stick with frozen mussles then tied them on with dental floss on a size 4/6.
I've not tried the jarred lugs they may be a bit tougher and stand up to the surf more?

Deano, you need a baiting needle, thread the lugworm on the needle, one end of the needle has a small indentation, hold the point of your hook in the indentation and thread the worm onto the hook and up the shank and even up your line a bit,tip of with a bit of squid.

Ps,tie a stop knot just above the eye of your hook to stop the worm going all the way up your line,i find power gum is best for this.
