Purpose of the forum.
Initially the Forum was devised as a place for you to share your catches, tactics and favoured methods for certain venues. This is still very much the case in the categories under venues. The Forum has evolved greatly and is used much more widely. Prior to asking for information on a certain water, for example "has anyone got any info on …………………..", please indicate that you have read the venues section on the main site and checked there first. This will often get you a better response, rather than simply being pointed to the main site. Of course you will want to know how a water is fishing at a certain time, posts of this nature are totally acceptable.
Rules (effective 1st Feb 2012):
The Admin and Global Moderators reserve the right to cancel Membership at any time and to delete, modify, move or lock any posts made by any Members. Although explanation is generally provided when above actions are undertaken, "Yorkshire Fishing" reserve the right to exercise these powers without explanation.
Healthy discussion is to be promoted, this is where the greatest learning takes place. Should a thread become too heated or appear to be going in that direction the Mods may temporarily lock the subject to allow a cool off period. Members who continue within a new thread will have their accounts locked for a minimum 24hr period. We all get frustrated from time to time and need to settle down and a cool off period will allow this to happen avoiding a full Forum ban.
Please check you are posting in the correct section of the Forum. Topics posted in the wrong sections will be moved to a more appropriate section. A link to the new location will generally be left for a minimum 24hr period.
Threads that start to appear to contain any religious, racial, political or other provocative material deemed unsuitable by the Moderators or that develop into unrest among the Membership will be removed.
Please be aware that Members who post personal attacks on the Forum or send via PM to other Members, Admin, Moderators, Fisheries owners, Bailiffs and the general public will be banned. In such cases where a report of abusive PM's have been received the YF.net Admin have been given access to Members accounts to establish the content of the PM received for themselves resulting in a ban for the offending Member.
Posts that may be abusive or contain foul language, deliberately misspelt words to avoid the swear filter or otherwise disguised may be edited / removed by Yorkshire Fishing Moderators without warning.
Links to other forums are strictly prohibited. This is mainly due to past problems experienced in allowing this to take place and then the privilege being abused. The team have therefore taken the difficult decision to enforce a global ban and will remove such links as appropriate without need for explanation. If posting a link to your own website please be courteous in asking permission from a member of the team and offer a reciprocal link.
Yorkshire Fishing adheres to the generally accepted rules of Forum Etiquette. Posting using ALL CAPS, large fonts or bold lettering is considered shouting and is very rude in addition to being hard on the eyes. Something may be in Caps for emphasis (e.g. I did NOT want to go!), but no post or thread heading should be entirely in Caps or have full sentences in Caps. The Mods WILL edit or remove any offending posts.
Please try to post in good old plain English, leave the text speak on the Mobile Phone.
Cross-posting the same post to several sections of the Forum is not acceptable and will result in one or all of the posts being deleted. If you feel you have a valid reason to cross-post then contact the Admin\Mods for clarification BEFORE posting.
Charities: Please contact the Admin\Mod(s) BEFORE posting an advert for a Charity Fundraising Event or Match, whether organised by yourself or someone else. The reasons for this are two-fold, firstly Yorkshire Fishing Support our own carefully selected Charities throughout the year, advertising none official events may have an adverse impact on the officially supported Charities which is obviously unacceptable. Secondly, Members have in the past claimed to be doing a Charity event, have drawn Members in and when the time came the event has not materialised, this reflects badly on the site as a whole. The YF Team will look at each event on a case by case basis, if the advert is allowed you may or may not be offered additional support, such as a "Sticky thread" in the appropriate section.
If you do not agree to abide by these new rules please do not post on the forum, by posting you are agreeing to the rules and breaching them may result in an instant ban without warning.
The above rules may be amended or updated at any time.
Please acknowledge that these rules are in place for your protection and enjoyment of the forum and the Admin\Mods will only exercise their powers when there is need to.
