I will be putting venues up here that I am looking into, after the the last one I did a few of you said it was not suitable for disabled members so I removed it. I can only go on what the owners tell me.
So if you could help me by telling me what you think of the venue before I do a write up it would be very much appreciated.

Finny, I think it's a hard task you've set yourself mate, disabled access on ponds is a hard subject, as I mentioned in the post that was removed, many ponds claim to be disabled friendly just because they have one or two fairly flat pegs near to a car park. The problem with listing venues is that you need a criteria to go by, what is accessible to me will not be accessible to someone else or someone in a wheelchair. I've often wondered if Government grants are available for venues to provide proper access and maybe we can help venues that may not be aware of them. I'll help ya any way I can mate. Probably the best way people on here can help with this is to post pics. I took a few pics of Elm Tree yesterday. Disabled People have priority on pegs 25-27, this is peg 25, there isn't really a proper path leading to these pegs. The pegs opposite are down a steep slope and even with the steps I'd find it difficult. I wouldn't say the rest of the pond is wheelchair accessible. This is an example of the Wheelchair friendly path. This is another bit of path which as you can see ends about 4 pegs down. The second pond is totally inaccessible to a Wheelchair and again I wouldn't really go to far round with my tackle cos of the uneven ground. Regards

I think that Birkwood is quite good for disabled anglers. On most pegs you can park behind them and the pegs are spacious and well built. Sorry haven't got any pictures of the pegs but will try to get some the next time I go. I know how hard it can be to be in a wheel chair and try fish these so called disabled friendly venues. When I broke my Femur in two places my leg I tried to fish a so called disabled friendly venue and it was really hard as there was hills here, there and everywhere and there wasn't a decent path. I think that all venues nowadays should be disabled friendly. Thanks By the way Elm Tree's first pond looks nice and looks brilliant for pole fishing.

Cheers lads, I can only go one what the owners tell me. I always ask them if they can send me photos so I can see what the paths and pegs look like, some say they will and don't others say the have no intenet. That's why I have started to ask you lads if you've fish the venues. So if you don't think a place if unsuitable for some one who is unsteady on there feet or in a wheelchair, I won't post it.
These are the questions I ask the owners,
Disabled pegs Yes No
Can you drive to the pegs Yes No
How far from the car park Yards
Path Hard Soft
Toilets Wheelchair Friendly Yes No
Café Wheelchair Friendly Yes No
Can you send me photo’s of peg and paths Yes No
Concession Yes No
If you can think of any thing else I should ask them let me know.
Cheers Finny

Barlow Common is excellent for disabled access. Absolutely spot on. Next time I go camping with the scouts i'll go down and take some pictures.

Finny, Check this one m8, seems quite disabled friendly, all pegs are solid and flat, some have timber frames down that seem to be ready for pouring concrete, car parking behind all pegs and the ground behind vast majority of pegs should be OK for getting wheelchair from car to peg. It would probably be better if there were a lip or summat on the pegs to stop chairs rolling in though. There is currently only a Portaloo on site which is near peg 1 (pic 1), not sure if plans are a foot to build a cafe\toilets. l8r

Have to agree on Delves, very good for disabled and the cafe is very good too. But on the point of no day tickets, this must have changed cos I was charged £3.

river don, cimpsall sluice (behind prison) recently had new tarmac car park with proper disabled parking bays and tarmac wheelchair access to first few pegs which are hard standing pegs.
delves day tickets are (were?) 2.50 from the cafe if purchased before fishing. 3.50 on the bank if not purchased from cafe before starting fishing. i'm not sure if there has been a recent increase.

It is all very subjective but the best we can do (as Anglers Disabled or Otherwise) is to give our opinion. I am a Disabled Angler, although you would never know it but I am unable to walk very far or carry tackle, so my requirements differ greatly from someone in a Wheel Chair.
That said it is relatively easy to assess access and suitability the Questions Finney Suggests are a great help, and we could all use that as a starting point, along with a few photographs and some helpful comments it would at least be some indication.
