Nice fish mate, ;D Going down to Daventry myself on Wednesday, unfortunately not to fish but to take my lad back home to his mother after the hols, drive past this venue every time I go and often stop and the place is always chock full of anglers. As you look across the road from the bank where you took the pics my ex works in that hotel and only lives 500 yards up the road, now she thinks I am being nicer to her because I am mellowing in my old age but Mr Bof has got me really into these carp now so I have to get into her good books and then plan for a week down there in the summer. 'No honest love, I know David really loves fishing now its just that I won't have the time to look after him properly if I take him up home what with the new baby and everything, so I thought I could come down here for a few days and do some fishing and camping you know proper father/son stuff' That's got to work right?
Paul.

Paul. i know the hotel yes, thats where i met my pal from essex there ! and we then drove over to the resevior. definatly get your self down there in the summer ! if you can get yourself in it's one of the best match fishing waters in the UK and is often busy in summer! i'll be ther in summer definatly !

Would totally back up what Dan says, this is a phenomenal venue for a days escapism!
Been down a couple of times lately, last Wednesday I had 19 carp with 9 of them doubles, smallest fish was just shy of 7. Old man managed nine with 2 doubles.
Cracking fishery and fish and chips delivered to your peg!
Only problem is it does kind of spoil you....won't stop me going down again this Tuesday though!!!

what are the pegs like , or are you fishing from what looks like a kind of pier/jetty

Hi Graham....
there's basically a boardwalk all the way around the reservoir with individual jetty/pier style pegs jutting out.
They are however comfortable to fish as they all have attachments to slot in your rod rests and have plenty of room.
You do need to be careful with your bits of tackle though as it can be easy to drop disgorgers etc between the slats into the res!

By any chance for drayton do you need to book 2 years in advanced

Not at all mate...worth checking in advance (especially at weekends) but there tends to be plenty of room on a weekday.
If you were thinking of going in winter I would be amazed if there isn't any room even on a weekend.

I would never think about going to Drayton there are too many fish there for me and the setting of it i don't like by the look on pics i have seen of it, like the view for example. I just heard that on the carp crew with jan porter he said that some pegs can be fully booked for 2 years in advanced.

Why bother asking questions about it if you've no intention of ever going?

NORBS whats a good winter bait there, IF im right i remember you mentioning pineapple,on an earlier reply. anything else you might suggest. will visit there in febuary Hi mate... I've not actually fished there in winter (a long way to travel for shortened hours!)....if I was gonna fish it in winter I would use smelt & lamprey In summer I've had some great sessions on frenzied catmeat. if I was gonna carp fish the place in winter I would certainly try bright coloured boilies as my first line of attack.... Cheers ajk...I just love sunsets! Norbs....
