After having mixed reports on the fishing in Ireland, another option often mentioned is Holland.
I have no idea where to start with Holland, any ideas? anyone been recently?
I am assuming we would sail from Hull, but that's as far as I have got!
cheers,
Herb

Same predicament here Herb After many years in Ireland were looking for a change to sample Holland, Brielle seems to be the place we have received most information about. A small town surrounded by water with some good fishing close by- mapThe only factors we are finding is accommodation. We prefer to stay full board in a B&B rather than hotel and most places don’t seem to have proper drying places/storage. Some of the B&B’s we have found only do breakfasts, which isn’t a major problem as you can just walk into town for your tea. Jack Purchase have a few places to give you an idea. JP HollandAlthough a longer ferry crossing we understand the times not to be too bad, as you leave at tea time and arrive early morning with only a half hour drive to Brielle so you don’t loose to much time. Like I say though we are planning on going next year so haven’t actually been yet, so this is advice being passed on that we have received. I think your definately looking at more money than Ireland possibly around £100.00 or so shopping may save you some cash. Hope this helps

Ahhhh I just assumed you were after the snotty’s and hybrids thinking along the lines of Ireland. For carp I would think about France or Spain and at least get a tan while you there ;D There are still some good places in Ireland though as Hammy will tell you, Rodgers Ireland at Portumna appears to still perform year after year but you will need to fish the same area every day all week. We prefer a more random venue approach, i.e. if it looks good, stop and fish it, but its been proving harder and harder every year

Really not bothered about species, im not too interested in the big carp, would rather catch lots of smaller fish!

Went canal fishing in Holland near the German Border. Need permit from any Post Office not too expensive. Canals are a bit bigger than in England and still have a lot of boat traffic to deal with especially at weekends. We stayed at a Camp site with its own lake, cannot think of the name but as i said near the German border. Fishing in Germany is good also but they have a tendancy to kill what they catch including big Carp and can get quite irrate if you put them back, which i enjoyed doing.

After talking to a friend about this, we think we will be going to the north of Holland, to take in a stock car meeting whilst we are there (my other hobby).
At least that narrows down the search!
