Hi everyone,
I am wanting to re-start fishing after close to a decade out. I would like to do more coarse fishing and will be doubt be asking for advice on tackle and venues.
Great to meet you all!
Cheers

Hello Sebby, welcome to the site, it's a bit quiet sometimes but feel free to ask anything you need to 👍 Thank you, appreciate it. Do you have any advice on kit to start with and brands etc? I wont be buying everything straight away but a good rod and reel to start off with would be great. Thank you

What sort of venues are you looking to fish? And do you have a budget in mind?

To be honest there's not much really bad tackle out that, a lot comes down to personal preference. Most of my gear is second hand, a lot of it 25+years old and it still does what I need it to do. First thing I would maybe consider is whether you want a box or chair. A box and footplate allows you to add accessories like trays, feeder arms etc and let's you have everything to hand but they are heavy and even second hand can be expensive. A chair is lighter and generally cheaper, and some will accept accessories but will make it more uncomfortable if using a pole. When it comes to rods and reels, I'd say that a cheaper rod will be a better option than a cheaper reel but that doesn't mean you have to spend a lot. I like the old shimano aero match reels that you can find on ebay, also spare spools. If you have a local tackle shop they should be able to guide you in the right direction.
